Was missing 1 bolt - probably the least essential one, but still a pain. Will buy at hardware store soon. Took me a minute to see how it would fit my truck (2025 King Ranch) - had to slide the clamps to one side to fit it together and then slide it in place. I haven't had a chance to compare to OEM model, but overall I am pleased for the price and how often I will use. Quality of product 7/10 (welding looked a bit bent/thin - powder coat was good) | Fit 10/10 | Ease of Assembly 6/10 (but my own skills may be lacking) | Look compared to OEM 10/10 | Functionality 8/10 (doesn't glide out easily or I haven't learned the trick - maybe I need that missing bolt...)

Reviewing: Rear Bed Step Tailgate Bedstep Compatible with 2024 2025 F150 Swing Tailgate Center Door, Folding Truck Step Retractable Bumper Tailgate Step VRL3Z-17A958-A — Not for Drop TailgatePros:First off, this technically could be mounted on any Ford that has a towing package, as it mounts onto the 2.5" square hitch beam that sits below the rear bumper. Although on most other models you'd have to either find another place to mount the extra support bracket, or just not use that piece. That being said, if you have the stock one-piece drop-hinge tailgate, the step will only be accessible when the tailgate is closed. I used this step on a 2009 F-150 XLT that has a custom built flatbed, so it works out nicely.Installation is super easy, and the step-by-step directions make it fool-proof. It seems to be reasonably well designed and is pretty sturdy so far. It's also reasonably easy to drop/raise by foot. It is held in the stowed position with an extension spring, so as long as it's a good quality spring, it shouldn't loosen up over time.Cons:The metal pieces are stamped from sheet steel, and the edges are left razor sharp (if you're not careful you could easily end up with some nasty cuts during installation). Not only that, but it's impossible to get proper weather protection on a sharp edge. I live in the Northeast US, and the chemicals they use on the roads here in the winter are very corrosive. This would have been completely covered in rust after one winter with all of those sharp edges exposed...so I had to file down all of the edges, apply a rust inhibitor, and re-paint them before installing the step. For ≈$190.00 (for a single step), I expect better...a LOT better.Summary: This product has potential, but as it is, it's not worth what they're asking for it. Honestly, even if it was perfect, their price is too high for what your getting. They need to spend the extra time to deburr all of the edges (prior to painting) and drop the price to somewhere in the $80-$90 range. If they used a rust inhibitor then powder-coated the metal instead, it might even be worth closer to $120 .I will update this review after it has gone through a winter here (or sooner) if any other issues arise.

Everything is decently sturdy EXCEPT the most important part, the actual step. It is a fixed by three very small screws at the back end of the step. When I push the step down so that it pops it, the step seems like it is going to break right off. It needs a structural support that will prevent the step from breaking at this weak point.

On 2024 F 150, This step extends straight out the back. I t will not work very good with a drop down tailgate, because it covers the step up. If you have a higher end F150 with a swing out tailgate, it will probably work fine . I wanted the step to help me get up in pick up box with tailgate down. It does not do that.
