We purchased many of these for air sealing exterior light and power outlets, as well as attic air sealing. The putt molds well around any fixture and has the added bonus of acting as a firestop. The City inspector was most impressed. Also, no toxic smell or off-gassing. Expensive but then it's one and done.

I wanted to isolate the noise from a room and it helped at least as much as I expected it to. I only put it on one outlet cover, but the noise was reduced in the next room.

Used this to fill in gaps around electrical outlet boxes and on the faceplates, it reused noise transmission between rooms

First my 3 rating is on the task I was using it for, your experience may be different. I was wrapping the puddy around a motor on a motorized recliner. It did take out some of the bad sound but not all. Is less of a mess but still a mess.

I originally tried using the 3M spray foam fire blocking, but it was incredibly messy and hard to get into tight spaces. This fire retardant putty is hands down easier to use. Spray foam is fine if the drywall isn’t up yet and you have dozens of holes to fill and no time to spare, but if you only have a couple small areas to add fire blocking, this putty is easy to use, super malleable, and essentially zero clean up. I think it even has a better fire blocking rating compared to the orange spray foams. They sell putty sticks and putty pads like this one. I just cut out a small square from the pad for each hole I need to cover. Super easy!
