Solidly, consistently, constructed.I tried using this with hand and a number of beaters with different densities and sizes and my impression was that this thing sounds flat, one dimensional and overall uninteresting. I honestly don’t see what the hype is about. Perhaps there is a qualitative change when you get the 3 inch rim instead.

Love my Remo hand drum. This is my first drum purchase. Very meditative. It does say there is a thumb hole on it. It is actually an indentation t to place your thumb-not a full cut out circle- Sound is very relaxing . Thumbs up!
