My husband thought the mounting plate for this was huge and very thin. He said the welding on the parts look good and feels solid. The flap hinge was very low friction, it opens and closes easily. The cap piece has grating in it and it was installed upside down from the factory. My husband had to take it apart and put it back together correctly. The tube that the vent hose hooks to needed to be longer as well. Between these issues and the price, my husband wasn’t very impressed and would not buy again.

This roof jack is constructed of much heavier gauge steel than your standard HVAC sheet metal you typically see. It also has a powder coat black finish, although it did have some flaws in it. Not a big issue, since it looks good from a few feet away. The design allows you to remove the top cap for inspection, cleaning, or maintaining your vent stack. However, this design requires you to remove the mesh screen bolts before you can remove the head itself from the base. Not a big deal, but other models have separate screws for the mesh.I did deduct one star because the base of the vent is way bigger than it needs to be. This can be a good thing, if you are installing this on a shingled deck roof - the more surface area you have, the better the seal. However, I was planning on installing this on a ribbed metal roof. It simply will not work because the flange is too large to land between the ribs. I will have to install it on the wall.Overall, this is a great price, for such a well made product.
