A solid, braided aux replacement cable for the headset. But it doesn't provide the same function as the original one did. When you mute the mic, the LEDs on the amp are supposed to change colors like they do with the original cord. The amp LEDs update to indicate if the mic is on when you mute and unmute. With this replacement aux cable, that functionality is lost.

This audio cord does in fact replace the one for the Astro A40 headphones and it works great for that aspect but there is one thing that the original cord does that this does not. If your mute the mic the leds on the amp do not change colors like the do with the original cord. If this is not a issue for you then no problem but I use the amp leds to indicate if my mic is on or not so other I know if the mic is active or not. This is comes in handy if your playing a game that's mic sensitive when a 5YO comes around you if you catch my meaning. Now the mic switch seams to be tighter then the original but I think that's only because its new and it is a tad bit farther down the line about ½ an inch or so.

This stereo/aux 3.5mm cord works perfectly! I don't have the special gaming headset so couldn't test out the mute switch, but as an aux/stereo cable (that doesn't need some type of ridiculous usb connection) this works perfectly! It's well made, braided and seems very durable! Highly recommended!

Very nice cord. It’s not all silicone so no worries about the cables poking through after some time. I bought it for my car and now I’m not worried the silicone will melt in the sun because it’s all nice rope. The cords stay put, both sides stay in very well, they won’t fall out of my phone or the car aux port. The quality of music is not impaired at all, it sounds just as loud and clear as from the car radio. Same thing with headphones if you use an adapter from aux to c/lightning.
