  • Low calcium hardness level can cause water issues

This is a dry granular product that increases the total hardness in pool water to the recommended range.Test for calcium hardness with a reliable test kit. The desired range for calcium hardness is as follows: Vinyl Pools: 200-300 ppm, Tile and Exposed Aggregate Pools: 200-400 ppm, Marcite, Fiberglass or Painted Pools: 250-400 ppm. If the calcium hardness tests less than the desired range, add this product according to the included chart. Place this product into a plastic bucket already filled with swimming pool water. Do this in a ration of up to 2 pounds of product per approximate 5-gallon bucket of water. Slowly pour this solution around the perimeter of the swimming pool while the circulating system is operating. In a 10,000 gallon pool, do not add more than 10 pounds of this product per 2 hour period.

I haven’t had to fiddle with PH or total alkalinity since I got my calcium to the correct level, my pool chemistry has been rock solid stable ever since.

I like that the product is granular, it ships easily and is easy to pour from the well designed bag complete with a cutout for carrying. I bought the 8 lb bag and it raised the hardness as stated on the chart, about 100 ppm. I had to install a second bag to get my 7000 gal pool back to a normal reading. We have had a very wet spring and summer, and I have learned rain water is soft.

I found that this works well. I've been monitoring my pool for a while and had to add Calcium for the first time after a big bailout. It does require a 5 gal bucket to dissolve it into solution before adding, but it also dissolves quickly in there. After that, you just dump that water-calcium solution along the edge of the pool while going around it.I added 2 lbs initially to see how dramatic the Calcium increase would be and found that it went up close to what the bag said it would after adding and waiting two hours. It is worth the money and is pretty easy to use.

Glad I went this method. I was tempted to try the ice melt materials, but didn't want to mess with unknown tramp metals. Now that calcium is up pool is staying clean.
