What can I say...it's a chain pin and they fit my Shimano chain. Just a shame they're crazy expensive.

I incorrectly shortened a 10-speed Shimano chain on the wrong link ("Measure Twice, Cut Once") and had to fix my mistake. These Shimano Chain Pins worked perfectly to undo my mistake.

While I like these pins to help in sizing a chain, I don't use them for chain maintenance. Using a master link such as those made by Wippermann is much better. As for installing a new pin, I use Park's chain tool: https://www.amazon.com/Park-Tool-Chain-CT-3-3-Color/dp/B07P4CCJYH/ref=asc_df_B07P4CCJYH/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312094794167&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17149752205980990178&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010804&hvtargid=pla-667297384739&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=63784736042&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312094794167&hvpos=1o3&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17149752205980990178&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9010804&hvtargid=pla-667297384739

For those of you who don't know, this is the only way link your Shimano 10 spd. chain. having several at your disposal is quite nice if you do cyclo-cross. I've had to take a few chains off and just soak them to get them clean and ready for the next weekend.

But oh my the price. At approximately £2 per pin at time of writing they ought to be made of solid platinum. Let's be clear what we're talking about here, a very small cylinder of metal that joins 2 chain links. Two pounds each ?! Daylight robbery. I can't give less than 3 stars because they do actually do what they're supposed to do, but at that price you couldn't call it value for money.I think "rip off" might be a more suitable term.

Needed them bought them they were OEM. Worked perfect! First try no problems. Make sure u have a good chain breaker. As with all chains lining up the pin and correct pressure is key.

I spent a lot of time researching if these were compatible with the 10 speed ultegra 6600 and 6700 chains, as it doesn't explicitly say. The identifying grooves didn't seem to match up with either of the images on the Shimano site. I couldn't find a definitive answer, but since I had extra pins both versions of the chain, I just tested it myself. Pin seems to fit flush in both chains, and work fine on the bike, so from what I can tell these are Shimano 10 speed chain pins that fit any of their 10 speed models.

Hard to rate pins - they either work or they don't. What I didn't expect is that they were chain specific according to the package I received: CN-7801/CN-6600. I have an Ultegra 6701 chain - hoping these pins will work with that. They are spares that I'm throwing into my seat bag for touring rides. They look like they'll fit but now sure. Wish Amazon would do a better job on identifying what exactly you're getting in the package.

I've never had a Shimano replacement pin fail. Easy to use, strong, and won't bind up your links. If you're not going to use a quick-link than the OEM replacement pins are the way to go.
