Works great on my 7 speed vintage bike. Quiet and mounts very easily. I like the "B" screw adjustment which is integrated within the derailleur body and does not require mechanical interface to the bike dropout. More expensive derailleurs have a "B" screw which must seat on the dropout and often times the screw goes beyond the dropout and cannot make contact with the dropout - the internal "B" screw eliminates those problems and can be used on any type of derailleur hanger. Package was shipped quickly and packaged very well. Very good supplier of bike components.

I was having increasing trouble adjusting my bike's old rear derailleur so I finally bought this (I believe I am using Shimano EF-51 seven speed shifters, basically the first thing that comes up if you search "bike shifters"). Once I installed it shifting was great. The design of the derailleur is a little different looking (the cable is routed around a small wheel, I actually think its a pretty interesting feature) but it seems to be of the usual good quality you'd expect from Shimano's parts.

This is the sort of derailleur you might expect to find on a department-store bike, but perfectly serviceable for updating an old 7 speed system whose parts have worn out. It comes without installation instructions, but you can download those from the Shimano web site. Note that the cable clamp is a hex nut that requires an open-end wrench, rather than the allen wrench you would expect to use with an enthusiast-quality derailleur.

Great product, work smoother than original Shimano Rear derailleurssubsequent replacement Shimano rear derailleurs., the pulley pivot after the cable barrel adjuster added smoothness to the shifting. The shift cable connects closer to the rear triangle cable lug, requires less shift cable length to connect to the shifter unit, thus was able to replace the longer cable housing from the rear derailleur on my bike with a short length housing, that improved the shifting, also.I have a former Nishiki/Raleigh USA Colorado/M60 Mountain bike I keep running by replacing worn out by age and use parts. The bike is so upgraded and modified to my personal preferences I do not want to replace it, this unit allows me to enjoy my old bike for a long while longer.

I dragged my almost 30 year old Schwinn Sierra out of storage with the thoughts of getting it usable again. It had been stored for well over 15 years and was in sorry but salvageable shape. I decided a totally new drive-train was the best way to go. So, I chose this rear derailleur, FD-TX50 front derailleur, MF-TZ20 6 speed freewheel, FC-M171 crank set, CN-HG50 chain and finished the whole thing up with a set of SL-TX30 shifters. I just got everything installed and adjusted and its working like a Swiss watch. Indexed shifting on a 30 year old bike, how cool is that? LOLI bought everything from Amazon and for a little over $90 in parts, plus a new set of tires and brake pads and lots of elbow grease, I have a perfectly riding and amazing looking vintage 1984 Schwinn Sierra. I love it!What a fun little project. Thank you, Amazon! Now I can't decide if I should keep it or sell it. :)

Shimano makes good derailleurs, the design of this one sucks. You will need to cut the cable housing and add 2 chain links acording to the installation manual, to install this. Don,t try this unless you are a skilled bike mech. and have the proper tools. This shifter doesn,t use the 180 degree cable bend of most rear derailleurs . I will buy Shimano parts in the future but never the design of this model!

I bought this derailleur to replace factory fitted Shimano non-model derailleur on my boys Diamondback Recoil bike that has been sold here (New Zealand) through a department chain. I wave the cost between buying this one and two other Diamondback bikes from the department store (great frames, wheels, seat, handlebars, disc brakes and crappy derailleurs) at a lot lower price and slightly better speced bikes at a lot higher price from the local bike shops. Since I am good with tools, I've decided to go for a first option and then replace all the junk parts that would not fulfilled my expectations.Among the other bits that I've ordered online and replaced it was this derailleur. I am very satisfied with it . Installing it was a breeze, adjustments following few videos on You tube, were also relatively easy. It shifts smoothly and silently. I would highly recommend this inexpensive derailleur.

I have just installed this derailleur on my bike. works well. i hope that it will go on in this way.Pros:cheap;seems to be good;easy to install and adjust;more precise than my previous one;has a detailed instruction how to install and adjust.cons:some (as i think essential) details are made from plastic.and, in general i would wish to be more metal and less plastic in this device.so, not sure about durability (for example, in the case of shocks or age...).
