The case looked great - nice and sturdy, with the bass guitar being well protected. The securing latches are heavy duty.HOWEVER........ while carrying my bass in this case, on the first time of using it - the handle snapped off, causing the case to fall to the floor!!!Thankfully the instrument, and the main body of the case, remained intact. The broken handle meant I had to then carry the whole case / bass package under my arm until I could get back home and contact SKB to submit a warranty claim.Not impressed that an item of relatively expensive outlay should fail on its first ever period of use. I had literally taken the paper wrapping off the handle 10 minutes before heading out the door. Half an hour later, after getting out of my car at the venue, the handle snapped off while walking along the carpeted corridor to the room I was to play in.

This is a sturdy case. I built a custom PJ bass and this case works perfectly for it.

A year in, and this thing is worth it's weight in gold. I've been to 14 states touring and i have yet to get my p bass setup since I got it. Latches and hinges still in great shape. And speaking of shape, the formed body fits into so many places a full size road case can't.

Sturdy, and holds up well. Had my Mexican fender Precision in this for a few flights now with no issues at all.

This case is not "Heavy Duty" as advertised. I am leaving for Europe tomorrow and bought this case to replace my beat up Fender case . I will be taking my beat up Fender case. I own many SKB items and this is not the quality that I was expecting. I am also disappointed in Amazon . I have gone through 2 of these cases in the last year, both of them had the handle break off like everyone else. In each instance SKB told me I was responsible for shipping. Needless to say I will not be getting this model again. I give this case a 1 star rating, as well as SKB's customer service. This is clearly a manufacturers defect, they should not be requiring their customer to pay to have their faulty product shipped back.Update: After being escalated to a manager they agreed to pay for the shipping back, so while I still would never recommend this case, skb did at least own up to their faulty product.

I've had this case for over a year, and used it 1-2 times/month to play with friends. I really like this sturdy case, but after 20 uses, the plastic handle broke. I was glad to find out that SKB will inspect it and either replace the handle or replace the case at no charge. I was able to get a used box from the local big box guitar store and found out that I can ship it FedEx for about $12.I'll post an update after I get the case back from SKB.

I bought this case because I couldn't find in the market a compact case for my J-bass. I wasn't too fond of the rectangular-shaped case that Fender and other companies made for J & P basses. SKB did a great job making this case specifically for J & P basses. It molds right with the body of the bass. It looks rugged and tough enough to protect your precious J & P bass. I've yet still travel with it and see how the compactness helps with flying and road trips.The four plastic lock-clips looks like some hard plastic that should last forever, but i've only had this case for a week so lets see how much abuse can those thing take, let along the case itself.Good price, worth it if you can find one on here for $145. Fender needs to take after SKB and make cases like this one for their guitars for those who love the molded-shap for their guitars. Highly recommended for bass players.

Excellent product. Fits my Fender bass better than the Fender version of this same case. Much less bulky and heavy than the typical rectangular bass case. Makes it much easier to carry my bass guitar around.Thanks,Rick
