Very sturdy however, I had to modify the brackets and drill new bolt holes to fit my mailbox so the box would fit on the 2-1/2 post.

This was the perfect fit for my 1.5" mailbox post and the Gibralter Medium Elite mailbox. Simply bolt the brackets onto the post using the included hardware. Then quickly bolt the mailbox onto the brackets using the included nuts and you are done.

This bracket is sturdier than expected due to lousy ad photos.I had to drill new mounting holes in the mailbox. I also had to drill the center of the bracket and purchase hardware for a center bolt as there is nothing to prevent the mailbox from spinning or sliding up & down (Off the top) on the post after mounting. It is solid after adding a center bolt.

I live in the country and this hardware is exactly what I needed. My old box was barely hanging on for life and the old hardware was was rusted beyond repair. I purchased a new mailbox from a local second hand store along with this hardware. The setup was simple and no instruction needed. So far it's still standing and I'm happy.

Did the job with some modification. I used this mount on a 1-7/8" OD galvanized pipe. The screws that came with the brackets were too short for that size pipe although the curvature of the bracket fit the pipe well. I used longer screws to mount the brackets on the pole. I then drilled a hole through the center of one of the brackets and the pole to install a sheet metal screw to fix the bracket in place. Without this screw the mailbox could be spun around on the pole. These brackets are an inexpensive way to install a standard size mailbox on a pipe.

This will only fit a very small post. My mailbox had a rectangular bracket that fit under the mailbox (purchased from home depot) and that bracket interfaced with the round post. This mount will not replace that configuration. It was not worth it to return it. But, I have replaced it with a mailbox kit with a square post. I never realized that a round mailbox post is such a problem if you need to replace the hardware. The lesson is, always go with a square post.

This bracket solved a big problem for me. My old mailbox was doing perfectly fine until a snowplow driver plowed too close to the edge of our street and clipped it and broke the mailbox and the bracket that was welded on to the 3 inch metal pipe that served as a post. Because this was a non-standard installation, none of the usual brackets would serve my purpose. And I didn't want the expense of hiring a welder to make a new custom bracket. I searched the box stores to no avail for something that would work. Then I found this bracket on Amazon. While it is meant for a much smaller metal post than I had, it's metal was malleable enough that I was able to shape it around the pipe and drill new holes to make it work perfectly. Of course, the supplied bolts were not long enough for my much larger pipe, but that was easily solved. I am very grateful that this product was available to solve my problem without the need for custom welding. I do wish it was available in larger sizes for larger diameter posts.
