I have a 25HP Mercury 2002 two-stroke outboard on a 2002 Tracker Pro Angler V aluminum boat. 825 pound boat with 112 pound motor. With the wife and I in the boat, with gas and batteries and fishing gear, we are at 1500 pounds. The prop would not allow for application of Wide Open Throttle (WOT) without ventilating (sucking in air) at about 3500 RPM on the motor. The motor zoomed to 5500 RPM and I could not maintain steady RPM beyond 3500 RPM. I attained 13 MPH at 3500 RPM and no more. The boat will do 20 MPH with an 11 pitch 3-blade Mercury prop. If I have more passengers, I will try this 4-blade prop again, but I ended up ordering a Mercury Black Max 11 pitch 3-blade to replace my 21 year old beat-up original Mercury prop. I will test that new prop out, but I expect 20 MPH is the best I will get with my boat. By the way, I use a 25 HP motor so that I can take my boat to Trout Lake, Minnesota in the BWCA, so I will stay with my 25 HP slow configuration. I just thought a four blade might get me to plane faster and provide some additional speed on plane. The thing is, it gets on plane and it sucks air since there is no more water!
