My experience was counter to the other reviews and test results on this brand showing performance gains. This kit was convenient and cost effective, but I'm not happy with performance loss.Installed on a 2016 Yamaha VX Cruiser (1049cc TR-1 engine). I was happy with the performance of my OEM impeller, but after some impeller and housing damage from a large stick jammed in there, and resulting vibration once removed, I elected to give this setup a try. While it eliminated the vibration issue, which I expected, I am bothered by the performance loss. Based on my 120 hours of use with the OEM impeller and housing, here is what I discovered:Installation was straightforward with no unexpected fitment issues. Extensive DIY internet searches and Yamaha manuals provided my replacement guide. I followed manufacturer specs for sealant type and application for the jet pump mating surfaces and torque specs. The impeller housing that comes with this kit is considerably lighter than the OEM, and of course has a plastic wear liner instead of the stainless OEM one. With OEM setup, my top speed was 53mph consistently at 7500 rpms (speed as per an installed GPS/fish finder), and I would cruise at 34mph at 6400 under most conditions. This is with 2 riders, full fuel and cargo weighing in total 520lbs. Full throttle launches got me on plane what felt like instantly. With this Solas setup and all else being the same: My top speed is 48.4mph. Hole shots result in notably longer times to get on plane, although my engine will rev higher during launches now (8000 rpms). My speed at 6400 rpms has dropped to 32mph from 34.The next time I need to deal with an impeller change, I'm going back to stock.
