The good bits: This tiny switch does an excellent job of providing an accurate picture and faithful sound without any problems that you might find with cheap alternatives you will find on Amazon and the other online store where you can bid on items! It feels well made and provides just enough (but not too much) room for the HDMI plugs. When devices are powered up, this changes input almost immediately and without any issue. It comes with a small remote but I haven't needed to use it.I use mine with a Humax Freesat+ receiver and some consoles, all of which are used 5 or 6 times a week, HDMI 720p / 1080P @ 30hz / 60hz.PS3, Nintendo Snes classic, NES classic, and a Raspberry Pi running Retropie. I also have a PS4 Pro as I've been reluctant to connect it just yet, but plan to do soon. The not so good bits: The remote is quite small and fiddly, no where near as good as the larger remotes you get with TVs or some other HDMI devices and upscalers. There's also no holes to allow the switch to be wall mounted but not surprising given how small it is. The LEDs are quite bright and distracting, but nothing that a bit of black insulating tape can't fix.

When I received the device, It was in damaged condition that there were scratches all over the device although its work, and the remote control was missed. Absolutely not brand new.

I do buy a # of Startech devices/cables for work and happy with them so naturally was leaning towards a Startech product to replace my previous HDMI switch so picked this one.my only dislike about this switch is how hot it gets if on. my old switch I didn't need to turn on/off but given how hot this one gets, it will stay off until using one of the devices sharing it.otherwise it works well and gets the job done.

I can confirm that this HDMI switch works with the new Chromecast with Google TV. Other 4k HDMI switches have problems with the 4k signal of this new Chromecast

While the hdmi switch works with my other devices like a pc, 4k fire stick and ps4 at 4k60, it's different on my macmini m1. I'm using a 3ft monoprice cable connected from switch to tv.I tested these cables that go from my mac's hdmi port to the switch:Using a 3ft monoprice cable = rare random disconnects.Using a 10ft or 15ft monoprice cable = no signal.Direct connection to tv using the 15ft cable = zero issues.Using a cheap hdmi coupler to connect the 15ft and 3ft cables directly to tv = disconnects every few minutes. it's expected but at least I get a display.Since this hdmi switch works well with my other devices, I'll be keeping it. I did expect better quality from a $54 switch.

For those of you like me hunting for a CEC compliant hdmi switch, this is almost it, but missing the auto-switch feature.Previously, I had my Ps4 and Blu-ray player hooked up to my Yamaha avr, and that AVR hooked up to my LG C9 tv. All of these components are CEC compatible. The TV can see both ps4 and player through the avr. If I told my TV to switch to the Blu-ray player, it would tell the avr, which would switch to the player and turn it on for me. If I later decided to switch the Ps4, the TV would again tell the avr, which would switch to the ps4 and turn it on. This is what CEC should do, when done right. However I wanted to add a hdmi switch to the mix, right to the TV. The seller mentioned in the Q&A that this device supports CEC so I decided to try it. Now I no longer use the avr, and just have the switch, ps4, blu-ray player and TV. The TV can see both devices through the switch, so some CEC support there. However, if I tell the TV to switch devices, the switch does not change inputs. It will turn on devices but won't switch from ps4 to blu-ray.So I'm only giving it 4 stars, as it didn't meet my needs. But I will say the video quality seemed perfect (for hdmi 2.0 bandwidths). I want an hdmi switch that I don't need a remote for (except for devices that I plug into it that don't support cec).

Finally! A product that does exactly what is says it will do and works perfectly, the first time, right out of the box! It only took me about five minutes before I had my Startech 4K, 60 Hz, UHD, HDR, 4:4:4 HDMI Switch 'up & running'. I plugged my Amazon 4K Fire TV into HDMI Input 1, my Sony 4K Blue Ray Player into HDMI Input 2 and my new Samsung QLED 4K TV into the HDMI output port. I then plugged in the power cord, hit the remote and watched as both devices switched over flawlessly via both the remote and the front panel switch. After hours of research (much of which I found to be deliberately misleading) I finally came across an honest company with the integrity to provide straightforward, accurate information regarding their product. My TV was one HDMI port short of my needs so I needed to be able to switch just 2 devices. What an ordeal, until I finally found the Startech; I recognized the name (I've used their products before) but there are so many switches out there, it took forever before I stumbled across the Startech. So I've done the research, purchased the product, which works perfectly, so save yourself a lot of time and effort... this is the switch to buy!. ,

This is the first time that I have had Zero problems with an HDMI switcher like this. The auto switching and switch back work perfectly, and I haven’t had a single connection failure or hiccup across all of my devices: PS4, PS3, Nvidia Shield TV @ 4K60, Apple TV, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Raspberry Pi, Steam Link, Sony BD Player, PlayStation TV.I currently have two of these in my house and I’m considering buying another. This little box works so well, and so much Better than other no-name switchers that these very minor design gripes aren’t worth taking off a star:1. C’mon StarTech, package in some stick on feet!2. Next time, if at all possible, place the power input on the back. Connectors on the sides are a pain to deal with and make a nice setup look a bit cluttered.

When I first bought this unit I needed extra hdmi ports for Xbox One (original), Switch, and PS3. The PC and PS4 Pro were hooked up to the other UHD hdmi ports. So I never tested it with a 4k HDR signal. Everything worked fine. Then I upgraded to Xbox one X and then I noticed the image would black out and have wavy lines and random pixel distortion. So I tried other cables and the problem persisted . Finally I went with certified monoprice cables and everything came in crystal clear. However the PS4 pro would still have random drop outs. I researched the issue and I found that changing the setting to YUV420 fixed that issue. Now I am having a great experience with this product. Make sure you have good hdmi cables that can handle the bandwidth of 4k HDR

I had already been through one switch trying to get my devices to work for my new tv that only had 2 HDMI ports. This came in on 12/05, and instantly just worked. Apple TV and Nintendo Switch worked like a charm. The auto switching would work with no delay.Exactly one week later? I come home and no signal from either device. I know something is working as the Apple TV turns off when the TV turns off, so that much is still passing through. But no amount of power cycling is fixing the issue. Will be returning.

I use it to connect my PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and my PS3 to my 4k home theater receiver, and from there to my TV. Both Xbox One and PS4 transmit 4K to my home theater receiver as well as Dolby Atmos or DTS depending on how the audio is transmitted by the source. Although the PS3 is not 4K capable the switch delivers Dolby7.1 or DTS7.1 surround sound and 1080p. All I have to make sure of is that only the console I intend to use is the only one powered on. The switch will change input automatically as soon as I turn off one console and power on the other.
