It's not the lightest seat to lug around but it is doable. The included strap despite what other reviews say works fine. The secret is to reverse the latching/ratchet piece so when it tries to pull from the tress the latch cinches. As it comes it is in a reverse setup and so will just pull out when tension is applied to the strap.Could use some quieting material so you don't have metal clanky noise with the hook on the strap but that's easily fixed.

The picture may suggest that you can install it up higher on the tree, but the big warning sign in the box says "only on ground level". Otherwise, it looks pretty solid. We never tried it out.

I bought this tree seat for deer and squirrel hunting as I like to still hunt and there's not always a fallen log or large rock handy to sit on and give my legs and back a break. I've owned a Summit climbing tree stand for many years and have always been more than satisfied with the quality and performance of it so when I saw this seat was made by Summit I decided to give it a try. It arrived fully assembled and ready to use. I checked the tightness of the bolts as suggested by the instructions and found them to be tightened properly. The only thing to that needed to be done was to use the loop in the mounting strap to secure one end of the strap to the seat, which was very easy to do. I read a few reviews for this product that stated that the supplied mounting strap did not work properly but I've used it on quite a few trees, of different diameters, and never had any problems with it. The strap easily and quickly secured the seat, held firm on every tree I used it on and it had no problem supporting my 212 pounds. I also used the seat using a ratchet strap setup to see if there was any advantage. The ratchet strap and the supplied strap both attached the seat to the tree firmly, although the ratchet strap did make a much tighter attachment which I expected. However the supplied strap worked just fine too. That being said, due to the ratchet strap keeping the seat tighter to the tree combined with the fact that the strap on my ratchet strap is much thicker and wider than the supplied strap I decided I'll use my ratchet strap from now. As for comfort...... this seat is extremely comfortable, I love it. I have problems with herniated discs as well as some leg issues and this seat was so comfortable I was able to sit in it for very long periods of time in total comfort. I have used a couple of older tree seats over the years and I always found the seats themselves to be much to small, very hard and just not comfortable. Not so with this seat, it's fantastic. If you're looking for a tree seat do yourself a favor and give this one a try. You won't be disappointed. Forgot to mention........ easily slings over your shoulder if you attach a homemade carrying sling and is no trouble all to pack into the woods. This really is a great tree seat in my opinion.

I purchased this seat because due to four knee surgeries I was unable to sit on any hunting stools which are low to the ground. I spend long hours in the woods in New York State hunting deer and I can honestly say this is the most comfortable seat I have ever used its wide enough and sturdy enough to support my weight of 235 lbs plus clothing . I read before I purchased The Stump someone had a problem with it slipping from the tree, well I use it all through archery, crossbow, and rifle seasons and it never slipped not one bit. There are only two things I found negative about The Stump it is a little heavy BUT it is very well made so that doesn't bother me at all. The other is the seat is made of fine mesh material and when the cold wind blows your butt gets a little cold SO , I camo duct taped a half inch camo pad onto the seat and problem solved. All in all I love this seat . Summit makes great products before my surgeries I used their tree stands now I cant climb so this works great for me. M Drews, Hamburg , New York

Not very stable unless you have the perfect tree. The strap has a metal hook that goes around the tree to attach to the other side of the seat. It bangs around while carrying it and attaching it making a metal on metal sound. This can be fixed but was unexpected until it was too late. The seat is also a little on the heavy side to be lugging around the woods, especially while carrying a gun, bow and anything else you might bring. Once set up a nice seat. Worth the money I think but may not be for everyone.

Great addition to my hunting collection! No more hard rocks, wet logs or Pete moss for me! No more cockeyed lawn chairs either! Must have!

I'm giving it 5 stars because I believe this is a great product. I give the strap included 3 stars as it's simply not the correct strap for this application. You 100% need a ratchet straps to appreciate this seat. And I and my back truly appreciate it!I have back issues, bulging discs and spinal stenosis so I simply can't stand still without either fidgeting like a meth head or crouching down constantly, to get feeling back in my legs.Usually I find a downed tree, rock or some other natural seat. They work but are never perfect height or comfortable at all, absolutely never warm or dry. I've just put up with it until this season.I was searching for a lightweight chair or something to start using when I found the Stump by Summit. Looked cool, price was decent so I gave it a go.Luckily I read reviews and saw the need for a ratchet strap, I tried it in the yard with the included one and immediately threw it in the back of my truck for another use... Not for hanging my body weight. Tried a ratchet straps and it was perfect. There is no included carry strap but I figured out if I wrap the strap around the seat and under the straps on my backpack it is very comfortable to transport, just watch your head putting it on...Now I am sitting in perfect comfort at the perfect height anywhere I want to set up. Add a foam pad and you can't get a better setup outside of a tree stand in my opinion.

I have used this seat for 5 trips to the woods. I was worried about the bulkiness but it actually carries well. For me, the size of the seat Is what makes it comfortable. I’m 6’2, 255.I have not had an issue yet with the included strap. I try to find a good pine tree to get some bite and it works great. It goes on the tree quickly too.I have had a few tree seats over the last 20 years but this is the best. No more uncomfortable hunting stools for me.The comfort of this thing definitely overshadows the bulkiness.
