Very easy to put together and very simple to use. My 10 year old grandson and 6 year old granddaughter had no issues figuring it out and played with it in our pool for quite awhile. My grandkids tend to get bored in a short amount of time with these kind of RC toys but having 2 sets of these RC kayaks in one package turned it into a fun competition.I expected some issues since my grandkids are pretty rough and these RC kayaks work in the water with rechargeable batteries but they were given a severe beating and took it like a champ. Everything from throwing them around pretty hard to chasing each other and crashing into the pool walls.The initial charge for the kayaks took about an hour and they ran for over an hour without losing charge. All you have to do is charge the kayaks, put 2 AAA batteries in each remote control, turn the remote control to on and put the kayak in the water and it automatically binds to the remote. Take the kayak out of the water and the kayaks turn off. Worked perfectly every time.Sometimes these kind of RC toys aren't easy to control but that wasn't the case here. All in all we're pretty happy with this set.

This is a step above ordinary pool toys, and the fact that the set comes with two kayakers competing to connect with magnetic balls makes it even more fun for our twin eight year old kids. The kayaks only operate in water, the remotes are easy to use, and they go at a decent clip. There is some assembly required--attaching the magnetic dolphin heads (which are really cute) to the kayak fronts and securing paddles into kayakers' hands. They work well in our pool where boats are easily retrievable, but can range about 33 yards before remote control is lost. We do have other RC boats which upright when they capsize; these do not have that feature, so care must be taken not to drive like a maniac, hit walls or run in choppy water. My only complaint so far is with advertising. The Amazon product description shows many photos of these kayaks being used in pools, which is why I ordered them. But, page one of the instruction booklet clearly says in bold black letters, "This boat is recommended for play indoors, not outdoors." Another instruction says the boat is equipped with an automatic on/off switch, so when taking the kayaks out of water, the batteries should be removed each time after use, and cleaned with a dry soft cloth. How many users will actually do that? I'm not really sure how long these RC toys will last, but for now the boys are having fun with them.

I ordered the SYMA RC kayak boats for my kid,and he absolutely loved them! The setup was simple, and the controls were easy enough for him to use right away. The magnetic dolphin heads catching the iron balls added a fun twist that kept him entertained for quite a while.
