So far I've only made one test crimp on 2/0 wire, but it easily made what seems to be a perfectly formed crimp - neat and secure. While this doesn't on the face of it look much different than some of the cheaper tools available, it does seem to to a better job, and I'd say it is probably down to the quality and proper sizing of the dies. For the crimp shown, I chose to hit it twice along the length since I had the space to do so.

I've used this several times now and also contacted the manufacturer. They responded quickly and were helpful. I would recommend it as a alternative to the more expensive ones if it isn't required for regular business work. The dies seem a bit loose, but it didn't effect the crimps I made and I have not used the more expensive ones to know how they fit.

Received. Nicely packaged in blow molded case, with all the cool half size extra dies. The Temco TH0006 worked for a total of 16 crimps. The last one seemed fine, but upon closing the valve to start the next crimp, it failed to initiate the stroke. Tried everything. Contacted Temco, who suggested I use a pair of visegrips to turn the valve another quarter turn past tight, try it, and if that did not work, go one quarter turn more. Still did not work on the first quarter past tight, nor the second quarter. Left with a $500 boat anchor. Funny, that the Chinese one I have back at home in Colorado, that I bought for $65 years ago, and hundreds of crimps ago, still works.

If you struggle to crimp larger AWG wires, struggle no more: these are just perfect! Comes with an awesome sets of dies, including half sizes, to accomodate "out-of-specs" lugs, and comes also with a 5-year warranty... how's that now adays ? Made in the USA.

I have used this extensively and very happy with it. It supplies plenty of clamping force with an ergonomic handle. But the real thing that sets this specific model apart is having the in-between sizes. as I started building up various cables I found out that cable would often be too large or too small to properly crimp the indicated AWG. This is due to the variation of the wire I would say, not the die sizes. But having in between die sizes allowed me to always get a die that worked just right. this is a HUGE benefit that other crimpers do not have.. and a must.

after buying several of the cheaper chinese ones even the ones that had "AWG" size dies, none worked right and when measured were all Metric sizes, this thing is exactly the AWG size it says they are, NOTE: if you crimps are not working check to make sure the lugs your using are actually AWG and not metric labeled as AWG I had this issue, until I measured the lugs and no further problems when I switched to proper lugs.

This crimper has an excellent selection of crimps dies and I love the handle return spring, makes it so much easier to operate. My power head was dead on arrival and I contacted temco and the just asked for my address to send the power unit. Best company to work with. As an electrician I frequently need to crimp and extend ground wires and make repairs to battery cables. This makes things so much easier. Love it.

I have used this tool multiple times without any issues. Once you choose the correct die, whether AWG or AWG+, the crimp makes a solid connection. When staring out, I like to get the lug snug in the crimper so it does not move around. From that point, I insert the wire and then press down firmly. This allows the lug to get a good firm grip on the wire for when you switch to using both hands. At this point, you just need to pump the crimper until the crimp dies meet. If you chose the correct die, you should have a completed lug crimp. If the wire is loose in the lug after crimping, you will want to go down a die size.I will definitely be using this a lot. I recommend this crimper to anyone who needs some crimping completed.

Makes perfect hex lug crimps where wires don't pull out. AWG+ sizes are great to get good crimps into cheap or dodgy wires that don't run true to AWG.

I was a little sceptical regarding this purchase as there were some bad reviews on the tool quality and crimp sizes. I am totally satisfied with this tool and have used it to set over 100 lugs of sizes from 2 AWG through to 10 AWG and I can not fault the quality or the range and accuracy of crimp size dies. This purchase has already paid for itself and was worth every cent.

When I got this unit I was impressed with the build quality, the fact that rebuild parts are included, etc., and was looking forward to using it. I have a bunch of 2/0 welding cable and copper lugs to make cables for my solar power install, and the first 2/0 lug I tried to put on nearly killed me. No matter how hard I pressed I simply couldn't get it to compress enough to stay on the cable.Fortunately, I ran across a review for their bigger unit suggesting to try other dies. It turns out when I tried the 1/0 die set on the 2/0 connectors it quickly and easily made a beautiful crimp! Apparently the needed die varies with the model of lug and fine/coarse stranded wire, etc., and you need to experiment to see which works best.Don't just blindly follow the labels and it will work great for you. Only another 40 or so to go...

I got this crimper because the one we had from *nationwide discount tool store* did not have all the dies sizes I needed to crimp some smaller lugs onto my wires. The first thing I noticed was that the fit and finish of this tool was far superior to the cheaper one. The dies also seemed better made and fit into the tool more consistently. The first couple crimps I did turned out better than the best ones I could do on the cheap tool. Some features that I did not know about at time of purchase, but really impressed me: The whole numbered dies (12, 10, 8, ...etc) leave an embossed number indicating the size used after the crimp is complete. That will take the guesswork out of what die to use if it ever needs to be recrimped for any reason. They also add a detent which matches the standard lug color code on the whole numbered dies. The replacement o-ring kit is also a big plus in my book.I did have a couple minor issues with the set, which I would take off 1/2 star for if I could. First, I received a mismatched set of 1 AWG dies (one was a 4 AWG that was mislabeled). However, I sent an email to Temco and they agreed to send me a replacement that same day. Good customer service. The only other minor annoyance is that the printing for the die sizes on some of the dies are smudged or double printed; they are not hard to read, but just don't look as high quality as the rest of the set is.Overall, considering the price was only about $15-$20 more than the cheaper sets, you get more dies (including all the in-between sizes), the extra o-ring kit, and just the overall fit and finish, it's a great deal if you are in the market for this kind of tool.
