Bought this for a trans-continental road trip that started in Alaska and ended in the Midwest US. I had to pack a lot of gear onto my hitch cargo rack, so when I realized I would be blocking my license plate, I needed a solution that would be acceptable at the Canada and US border check points.I strapped this to the outside of my cargo rack, it lit up like a charm, and stayed perfectly in place for all 3500 miles. Even one of the border patrol agents (at 6AM) was impressed! I had to do a lot of searching before I found this as a possible and easy solution, and I’m so glad I did. I originally wished it wasn’t so pricey, but the brand is so reliable, the quality is really good, and both the wiring and installation was SO easy - I’ve concluded it is totally worth it.

It's been a while to search for a right license holder for my bike rake on a trailer hitch. Reasonable price and excellent design with straps that allows it to be attached flexibly to vertical/horizontal metal frames.

Who knew!?? When you have a bike rack with bikes on the back of your vehicle, if they block a clear view of the license plate you can get a ticket! This is a real thing for Burning Man. Do yourself a favor and make sure your license plate is visible. This is why we see some vehicles with the license plate moved to the back end of the bike rack. Further, this holder has lights built in to illuminate the license plate. I've made a wire harness which plugs into the 7-pin trailer towing power connector to supply running power (with the tail lights) to the holder's LEDs.Also, I've devised a L-shaped bar to hold a Trailer rear light strip at the back end of the bikes or cargo. So now the bar holds this license plate bracket AND has running, turn signal, and backing-up lights on it all wired and good to go. Easy to hang and move out of the way when necessary. Check out vehicle code 5200 "No Plates". You can get a $121 ticket parking in SF. What they don't tell you is that you can turn it into a "fixit" ticket and pay only $10.

Expensive for what it is, but does the job and fits canadian license plate just fine easy to install drove all the way to Arizona with it and back no issues, easy install connects to your power for trailer. Works great, again thought price is very high for it being a piece of plastic, should be maybe $20-25, but what can you do.

To install this you need to unscrew the license plate EVERY TIME you want to attach the license plate holder. That is incredibly inconvenient. Just make your own DIY solution don't waste your money on this garbage.

I ordered this to avoid getting a ticket as my license plate is hidden behind my bike rack. It was very easy to install. I have a Kuat rack and it fits no problem

This is a great solution to keep your license plate in clear view while transporting your bikes. It's cheaper than a ticket for an obscured license plate.It comes with a wire harness that attaches to your trailer pin connectors. It has a couple of LEDs to illuminate the plate at night. You also have two options to mount the plate holder to either your rack or your bikes. I mounted mine to my rack. It is held onto by straps but they are very secure and I have not had any issues with them rattling loose.

Typical Thule quality and functionality. Heavy duty. Strap system to attach to bike rack is well designed. Of course a thief could cut the straps and steal the license, but if I'm traveling with a bike I'm not leaving it or the license unattended. The cable to the vehicle connector is a good length and heavy duty. Good decision to purchase this to replace my DIY plate holder.

Unit is very sturdy, holds the plate securly, and has a light. It mounts using straps rather than velcro sterips which seems more secure. It was a little tricky to mount on my bike rack and keep it from flipping around.
