This is my second purchase of this product as we have two hot water heaters. Highly recommend these to cut down on corrosion inside the tank. Works great.

When you attempt to remove the existing rod, it’s very difficult with provided tools. I had to buy the proper sockets and use impact wrench. Other than that, everything went smooth.

I happened upon a youtube video about hot water heater anodes and replacing them. With a little research, I found electron anode replacements and you they last 20 years and extend the life of your hot water heater. Further, low voltage anodes remove sulfur smell which we had off and on for the last couple years.I can't say how long this will extend my got water heater nor of it is really doing what a sacrificial anode does as I can't see inside my hot water heater, but the sulfur smell has not returned, and everything seems good. You should change your anode a couple years before your hot water heater life expectancy. Mine was 10 years and I replaced it after 11. The original anode was down to about 10% the original thickness. It is the same effort to replace it with this anode or a traditional one.Note: You will need extra leverage to remove your old anode. Plan for it before you start. You will also need an outlet nearby for the low voltage anode.Installation is super easy and the included extension tool makes installing easier by protection the power connecter.Project time: It took me 30 minutes start to completely cleaned up and put away.Ah, this is a good time to flush your hot water heater and purge the corroded debris from your original anode. I hadn't flushed in years and the amount of stuff was shocking. I flushed again a week later and still more came out.

I had an Impact Driver, and a 1-1/16" Impact Socket, as the instructions said was needed. My Impact Driver could not budge the old Anode Rod, until I let it hammer, at it, in 5-second bursts, for around 20-30 seconds! Not a comment on the new product, just a warning that the old Anode Rod may be really stuck! The new, Powered Anode Rod, went in, easy. All of the things needed were included in the kit, except for the Impact Socket and the Impact Driver. The Push-On tab connector was too tight, it required a blade screwdriver to open it up a bit, to slide onto the tab (very minor issue, super easy to fix).If you do not see the LED on the AC Adapter light up, the connections are not right: check the positive slip-on tab, on the Anode Rod. Cheers!
