I bought this to keep my dog from going into the living room....and it's working well. Fairly easy to set up & take down, which is what I needed. I do prefer the white plastic mesh to the wood/wire mesh that my old one had. That makes this one lighter than the one I had before, too. There was another brand (EvenFlo) that was a bit cheaper. But I simply liked the look of this baby gate better. The only thing that was a problem, was the metal piece at the end of the arm that sets the gate. It took me a while after first opening the box, to get the metal clamp loose enough to unlock and/or re-lock the gate in back in place. However, I guess it may need to be relatively tight considering many of us will put it up & take it down pretty often. Other than that? I'm happy with my purchase.

The old faithful of baby gates, tried and true. Expands easily, locks securely and works for babies and small animals, too. Easy to carry so if I'm going to someone's house I can take one along to keep a toddler out of some forbidden room leaving me to chat and enjoy the visit more.

It does its job just as it says. Nothing more, nothing less. I go through those alot though with all my pets and toddler. The price on this one was what drew me to it. Great price for what your getting. Love it!

I don’t over tighten so no wall problems yet. I’m using as a gate for a dog to stay in or out of kitchen. I had a really hard time getting the gate to work initially like the metal clamp was so tight on the wooden rod. But eventually I got it loose.Update!!! The walls of my new home are ruined from this gate. I’ll have to putty and repaint eventually. Huge areas are affected by the pressure. Paint ripped right off the walls. I tried to keep the gate on a loose setting but this still happened. I think other reviewers mentioned this but I ignored. Now I’m left with a major repair job once I’m done using it.

We've gone through many types of baby gates. We trust this gate at the top of our stairs to keep our baby safe, even when she pulls up and pushes on it. This evening, my two-year-old realized he could climb over it. Great. The good part is that the gate did not budge (I watched him on our security video) when he climbed over it twice. Our previous tension gates by other makers, came apart into two pieces and eventually, we were unable to put them back together. This style has a safety lock, which we were annoyed by at first, but the ease of use was soon realized. The safety lock keeps the gate positioning from moving accidentally or the gate from sliding into two impossible-to-reassemble halves. With our other gates, we had to mark with sharpie the notch that the gate had to be at, in case it lost its notch positioning. No more! The wood is nice - no splinters. The plastic is as aesthetic it can be. The holes are an ideal size to keep baby toys or her little hands from going through. Our baby has never scratched or cut herself on the smooth plastic lattice. I do not see the potential for that happening either.Light-weight.Highly recommended.
