This ToF distance sensor is extremely small and lightweight. Drones (i.e., UAVs) would be an excellent application for its use. The unit interfaces using a 4-wire JST style 1.25mm connector and comes with a 20cm cable. Documentation and specifications for the TOFSense-F sensor can be found on the Nooploop website. How to use the sensor with PixHawk, an open-source commercial flight controller for UAV, is available on the audupilot.org website. The sensor is not waterproof. This is a nice ToF sensor that is capable of detecting objects several meters away. I find it harder to work with compared to other options that are larger. However, for a UAV where weigh is at a premium, it is a good choice.

Pros:* Respectable range sensor* Simple i2c interfaceCons:* No breadboard capacity for easy wiring up to mcu's or dev boards* Tiny makes it harder to work with in some ways

Great and TINY little sensor! Literally the size of a dime, i assumed it would be larger but its perfectly sized. Works well with my ESP32 robotics project!

I got this thinking I could use it with any MCU, but it’s very much intended for the PixHawk controller only. If you have a PixHawk controller, or other peripherals, it is plug and play. If you are using this with any other MCU, you will immediately encounter problems: The connector is odd (not a standard JST or DuPont header), you don’t know which pin is which (the seller has a pin listing, but doesn’t tell you which pin is pin 1 on the board – so you have a 50/50 chance of choosing correctly or letting the smoke out), it’s 5V power, but 3.3V logic, so you’ll need a logic level converter. The product is so new, it’s hard to find any documentation clearing up the pin issues, or any sample code. Overall, I would avoid it unless you really are going to use this in the PixHawk ecosystem. I’ll give it a presumptive 5 stars – because I’m not using it for it’s intended purpose, it wouldn’t be right to knock off any stars, but I also can’t verify if it’s great or not.

I've been playing with this small lidar sensor on some robotics and automation projects, and it's been a really handy little module. The range is perfect for its size and it can pick up objects from a few centimeters to a few meters with decent accuracy. It was straightforward to integrate due to the UART and I2C interfaces, and I had no issue getting it working with a Raspberry Pi. It's very small, so it's perfect for space-limited builds such as robots, drones or small autonomous vehicles. The refresh rate and stability are acceptable for real-time applications, and it's performed well under testing without issue.Bottom Line: It's a small, high-performance sensor that's ideal for makers or developers who require accurate distance readings in a small form factor. It's excellent hardware that provides good value for its small size and accuracy.

I feel like this is a good option for robotics projects which need a VERY small/compact, simple method to get a distance measurement for various applications. It has very low power consumption and small size with some built in mounting holes. That said it's not all good, this is not the most robust sensor and could quite easily be damaged. Price point seems decently affordable at around $16 dollars. It's also pretty limited in terms of range and field of view, and while it's advertised as a lidar module for drone projects, one should be aware that this is in no way comparable to like a professional mapping lidar module, this is a very simple sensor that'll give you a distance for a single point.

Seems to work. Have to figure out for sure what I am going to do with it, but LiDAR is lots of fun to play with.
