I bought this to put into the tow hitch receiver on my 2016 Honda Pilot. I have the full factory trailer kit that features a 2" square receiver. We use the trailer hitch for our small 16' sailboat trailer and for our Thule bike rack. So, much of the year the receiver hole is empty. However, we also use the roof rack on the car for our Kayak rack. And this is the reason I ordered this Hitch step. The Honda is a fairly tall and I can't really reach from the ground up to the top deck surface of the Kayaks. In the past I stood on the back wheels. But to reach the attachment bolts for the rack located between the boats and the back end of the rack in general I needed a small step stool. This Hitch step provides a plug for the open receiver hole, replaces the step stool, and provides a little added protection for the back end of the Honda. This heavy-duty accessory is made from 1/8" thick steel. Its heavy and painted with what looks like a Flat black, sand paint. The fabrication of the step hitch is very good. All the welds are smooth, even, and with no rough spots. The tubular bumper section has the open ends neatly capped as you would expect. And they've added a non-skid rubber foot grip to the top edge to provide a secure grip for your feet. The hitch step is drilled in 3 positions on the sides to allow you to extend the step away from the car bumper. Although I would point out that the last hole is drilled about 1 inch from the end of the tongue. For me at 180 pounds this amount of insertion into the receiver is enough. You should check this for yourself. The hitch step meets my expectations. Its strong, well-made and looks pretty good at the back of the car. It fits into the existing receiver smoothly and with minor movement, as you would expect. You do need to have your own 1/2" diameter hitch pin. This is an unusual product that fits my usage of the trailer hitch. Nice product. Recommended.

This is a really handy tool for us short ladies trying to make our way in and out of the back of the truck several times a day. It fits perfectly on the factory hitch, and looks super cool! The finish seems pretty rugged and I've climbed on and off of it a few dozen times in the last few days. I wish it had come with a pin so I could keep the trailer one with the trailer hitch and another one with this. It's not a bad deal in this price range even without the pin though, and my truck has never looked cooler.
