I can't give this as a gift as I had intended. It looks nice on the outside, but when I open it up, it has very thin walls and the hinges shift around loosely. Poor construction and could literally rip apart with ease. Not secure. Cheap and flimsy.

I did check out the other reviews before purchasing this product. While it is made of thin wood, that makes it light weight (which I was looking for). In my opinion it's still sturdy if it's looked after properly; if you drop it multiple times or store heavy items on top of it, that might reduce the life span. Another reviewer mentioned black stains on the leather: mine had black on it as well. It's likely the colour from the "laces" that has transferred onto the leather-like material. I used a bit of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and voila! No more black marks. I had no issue with warped and/or bent shape. For me, the added value with this box is that you can get some cool vintage/antique looking locks and lock the box. I'm quite happy with this purchase.

Looks great, but how others have mentioned in their reviews, it is pretty flimsy. Only get this if it will be handled with care or sit pretty on a shelf.

Great toy sized treasure chest for my 3 & 4 year old children.They are really into pirates right now and this chest was just what they wanted.This chest is not meant to be a storage item.Instead it is great for pretending to be a pirate, hiding toys, play coins, etc.For the price it is good quality. Wood mostly, metal latches and handles, and a plastic top with a leather.

I bought this to keep little treats for my sons. It has held up nicely to their rough hands. It is quite beautiful. It doesn't lock, but I didn't need it to. It does have a latch, which is all I needed.

It's very light weight, and very flimsy, but hey, I really wasn't gonna put 30 pounds of gold in it and bury it. Yeah, it's cheaply made chinese stuff, but it's hand made in an assembly line fashion. Pretty cool for what it is. Fortunately mine was packaged with other goods so did not get busted up. My other Quickway product was damaged, but easily repaired.

It's about what I expected. I needed it for a one time use of gift delivery and I needed a specific size. It's 1/4 an inch smaller than it claims to be and so the gift had to be wedged inside.It's an ok thing to look at, but don't store much in it.

For the amount you pay, this is a really nice piece. It's a good size, the hardware is secure and good quality, and the "look" is very vintage and realistic. It doesn't look much like a pirate treasure chest - more like luggage - but it suffices as long as the rest of your decor is appropriately nautical.
