This deadlock was easy to install, great price, built tough. Gives me a lot of peace of mind that someone cannot break into my garage.

WellMade Inside Deadlock, Heavy Duty Garage Doors Side Lock, Galvanized Steel Housing Extra Security Lock Slide Latch, Fits Most Garage DoorThis garage lock is just as Well Made as any other. I can’t see any difference between this one and the other lock that has been on my garage door for twenty-five years. That’s right, I already have a lock on one side and decided I wanted one on the other side.I read our city’s police report on most common entry points for burglars, garage being number one. Then I watched videos on the various ways that burglars gain entry through the garage door. I sometimes leave town for extended periods and decided I needed a latch on both sides with a padlock through it. I know a determined burglar can’t be stopped but I can make it more difficult for them. I saw one story where the burglars went in through a window but out through the garage, taking most of the contents of the house. This lock had screws provided but they would have required drilling pilot holes. I just clamped this lock into the proper position using vise grips. Then I placed some self-drilling, self-tapping screws with my drill. The whole process, including getting my tools out and putting them back took less than ten minutes.

I ordered this to help secure our garage door while we're away. It's nice reassurance that even if someone gets into a vehicle or hacks your opener garage code, this physical lock (locked from inside the home) will prevent the door from being opened easily. It prevents someone from physically lifting the door and prevents the door from moving. The quality is in par with the locks I've seen in the hardware stores and the spring is nice and strong, preventing the lock from coming loose while the door is going up or down. It's very easy to install but every door is different. I had to cut a slot in my metal door track for the lever to go through but most modern door tracks should have holes large enough for these locks. I choose to mount mine to my door and the lock slides through the track. It fits perfectly and slides smoothly. It comes with a few extra screws and mounted easily. Overall I'm very happy with the value and quality of this lock and feel more assured having it in place.

Lots of people assume your garage door opener will be sufficient to stop a thief from prying open the door. That isn't always a correct assumption, spoken by someone who found out the hard way. But keep in mind that a prybar on the side of the door can also defeat a lock such as this. One place I have where I store a lot of tools does not have one of these, and that I why I ordered it.There are two ways to make it really hard on a thief to get a garage door open. The first is to install one of these and put a padlock through the open hole in the slide bar. That makes it really hard to get the door open. The second is to mount one of these on each side of the door. You might be able to push to the door to the side one way but it simply will make the other one be more fully engaged. The one thing you need to remember is when coming back from vacation or a trip and wanting to reopen your door you have to remember to disengage the lock. Sounds obvious, but I assure you the results are ugly if you do not. You might say I know from personal experience. But this is the equal of OEM equipment and is a very decent price. I find it to be pretty much what the seller's name is, well made. There is one thing I would like to see, and that is having the screws be self-tapping. Good luck trying to get these to self tap. I had to use a punch and then predrill all of my holes. And I rarely have used more than four screws to attach these, but since they give so many I used six on this one.

This latch does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It is solid and sturdy and holds the garage door in place when locked. It also comes with mounting screws and is very easy to mount. The screws do require pre drilling in the mounting surface. If this had come with self-taping metal screws this would be a five star review.

This is a solidly constructed lock, a bit oversized compared to another brand I recently purchased. That came in handy for me because it has a nice long bolt and one side of my garage door has a bit more space to cover to close the bolt. It has the standard hold-open hole which I suggest clipping or locking to make sure no kid accidently slides it closed. It comes with a lot of screws as pictured, but they are not self-drilling like some brands, which adds an extra pilot hole step. There are no instructions or paperwork of any kind, but this listing has a few extra pictures and the installation is pretty simple.

I bought this to replace a damaged one. This is very nice and well built. Does have some weight to it so I hope it holds up great like it's intended.
