I was able to determine from the error codes that it was the diverter motor that was the cause of my problems. I watched some good videos on how to replace the motor and was done in 2 hours, which included having to disconnect everything and pulling out the dishwasher. Same as original motor

We were having issues with Kenmore elite dish washer and I narrowed it down to this part, followed the instructions on YouTube , pulled out the dishwasher and installation was super easy . Part was - form fit and function drop in replacement

Like most reviewers we suffered the failed rubber grommet leak. Our leak went unnoticed for so long that the diverter motor corroded and then failed. This replacement motor worked perfectly, but I did have to buy the new grommet separately. Only time will tell, but after four months with the replacement parts, we have not experienced any leaking.(Having been forced to investigate and repair this problem, I cannot believe that dishwasher manufacturers have settled on this horrible design approach. Given enough time, a moving rubber grommet at the bottom of a water-filled appliance is guaranteed to fail and leak unless some other failed component totals the dishwasher first; all so that water can be diverted to the upper dish rack. I am glad that I was able to order the parts from Amazon and complete the repair myself without having to pay a plumber.)

Shipped the wrong part. Tore down the machine and then realized that it doesn't fit and the part was wrong. Very frustrating. Anything to do with Whirlpool is becoming a pain.

This find was great because they no longer made the part for my brand of dishwasher. Thankfully I found it here. It was a very easy to install. Plus it came with lubrication grease which was a bonus. I think lack of grease is what made the original part fail.

The seal that goes around the shaft on these diverter valves fail and then the water destroys a switch that is in this valve. You will need to buy the shaft seal separately either as a new old stock part if you can find it or as part of the entire sump assembly. The valve itself is easy to install. I have had it in for a couple months now and everything is working fine.

Diverter motor fit perfectly. The problem I had was the grommet doesn't come with it. I assumed the "frequently bought together" grommet suggested would fit. It didn't. That's what I get for assuming. Do your homework and don't make my mistake.

So, I've got the same leak everyone mentions and searches for. This does not come with the grommet that is actually the cause of the leak. However, this is the newer part (W10537869) that replaces the older part (W10476222) and has a slight design change that may help with leaking with the way it seats the grommet. The grommet part is W10195677 It did not show up in the frequently purchased with above for me. I've decided to keep this newer part and have order the grommet. It really should come with the grommet. If the motor is still working and you want to save $$$ then just buy the grommet.
