Wanted one I could weld onto the trailer, the metal is thin making it difficult. It's also powder coated. While nice, I'm not sure how to mount this

I have a 2008 utility trailer. It needs a new floor, and the wiring needs some attention. But, all the lights on it are the old incandescent style lights that have worked for us since Thomas Edison. One of the existing lights had a reflector on the side that's cracked, this package comes with an oval rear light, and a circular light on the side. In addition to this, it comes inside a pre-made box, which is even better. The thing you need to account for is the size, and how you want to install it.I just wanted to put this review in there early on in case anyone else is wondering about it. The other reviews are correct, this comes with the lights pre-installed. This puts you at a disadvantage, because no matter the mounting option you choose, you're going to need to remove these lights from the box, and when you try to remove them you will swear at it. Where my previous lights were, there is a piece of angle iron that sticks out, I found this fits darn-near perfectly in that section. I thought the metal that makes this was going to be thicker than it actually is, it's decent, but not for anything structural. For example, if I welded this onto the trailer, I probably wouldn't feel comfortable using it as a step to step on. Because the angle iron on my trailer is thicker, I came up with the plan to just drill holes in the back of this assembly and use the pre-existing holes from the prior light to mount this, also using the thicker angle iron as a strong backer to protect this light assembly. I have a cheap welder, and I would've tried to weld this if needed, but if I were to do that then I'd probably have to wire brush the black finish where I wanted to weld and do all sorts of prep. It's a box, so you can just drill your own holes and bolt it on if you want. Now comes my ancient Chinese secret. There's another reviewer that tells his tale of triumph on getting these lights out of the box through much effort using water and soap, and actually said he cracked the box in doing so. Without reading anything, I saw the instructions show when you install the lights, you put the grommet in, then the lights. I tried pulling the whole thing out at first, and it's true, it won't come out. Although I'm becoming more old and frail, I still subscribe to adapt and overcome. I surmised that by design, the lights must be smaller than the opening and the grommets must be designed not to pop out with the lights occupying the space inside. When you remove these lights to mount this thing, the SECRET is... don't pull the lights out of the box, PUSH THEM INTO IT! You can do it in the manner of the US Marine Corps eye gouge technique, please refer to your Marine Corps Martial Arts Program manual. If you push the lights in, the lights themselves drop into the box, then you can manipulate the grommets and pull them out, then pull the lights and wires out. It is MUCH easier. You can pretend it's a cyclops robot that you must defeat in hand-to-hand combat, and just grasp onto the box and push in with your thumbs. Don't be bashful, they'll both push through.Once you have the box, figure out what you wanna do, put it in it's place and run LED-style. I tested both lights with a 9v battery to ensure they worked. I will post pictures after I mount them, but I just wanted to put out there how to remove the lights. Whether you need to drill through or weld, you're going to want to remove the lights, I wouldn't be welding 1000 degrees right next to the wires and plastic lights. I wish you well, and anticipate these will work excellent for what I got them for.

These trailer lights work great! The look good and they seem to be built very sturdy. The quality is pretty good overall, and the powder coat on the metal box is nice, I don't think they are any exposed areas where rust would be an issue. I'm very happy with these lights. They were packaged well and ready to go. I don't have any pictures with them assembled on a trailer as I don't have all the steel needed to assemble it. But I did test the lights with the wiring harness and they worked great!I would definitely recommend these lights for the great quality and cheaper price! Only down side is there are no bolt holes or mounting brackets so you have to weld them onto your trailer. I would prefer it that way anyways but I know some people would prefer a bracket and bolt connection.

Quality lights. Easy to install. Made of sturdy, high quality metal. Designed to look nice, blend in with the trailer seamlessly, and it should last quite awhile. Lights are bright and really make the trailer visible at night. Simple to switch between vehicles, car trailers, etc. Great kit. It's fairly priced and worth keeping on hand.
