From the very beginning the latch did not reliably lock down. Too much cheap plastic and no metal. The other day they spontaneously popped open while driving down the canyon after skiing and lost three pairs of skies. Destroyed and I'm sure Yakima does not warrant damage caused by product failure.

The Yakima Fatcat 6 works great. It does what its suppose to do, hold the snowboards/skis. I had no issues with it at all. The racks mount right on my Subaru Forester and they hold 4 snowboards. The wind noise doesn't come up until you hit 70mph. It's just a slight amount of wind noise which is bearable. Awesome item, and it looks great! I paid less than $300 though.

First off the there is no way the fat cat 4 holds 4 pairs of skis. Maybe if you have skis from the early 80s that are skinny, but for fat powder skis or anything similar it can really only hold 3 pairs. I ended up having to upgrade to the fat cat 6
