This is made from a PVC material - at least it smells like PVC when I cut the slot.I had no problem installing it. There are just a few T20 screws to remove the old insert and put the new one in after cleaning out the debris that had fallen through. I found the screws sunk into the PVC a little so be careful about overtightening. After installing make your first cut nice and slow the full travel of the blade. From my images you can see the difference from the old and new insert slot. I am not going to be beveling for awhile so having just the 90 degree cut slot will give me a precise cut line for now.

I don't have time to make my own zero clearance insert so this one works great for me. I installed it on my Dewalt DWS779 with no issue. My cuts in pine trim are splinter-free and clean. It seems to be made of PVC and sits flush with the saw bed. I do think it's a little expensive for what it is.

Lightweight fairly rigid plastic material (listed as PVC and that seems right). The existing gap in my miter saw was exactly 3/8 of an inch. Fit perfectly in place of the yellow plastic OEM insert. If you are cutting 2X4's at 90 degrees on a construction site then you won't need this. However if you are a woodworker making solid wood furniture this is the single best upgrade (Besides a quality blade) that you can make to your miter saw. Installation was super easy though I could point out that you should be careful not to over torque your fasteners as some deformation of the material is easy to do under the fasteners. I have not cut into the material yet because I need a new blade and want the cut to perfectly fit my new blade. Kind of expensive for what it is.

This fit my saw perfectly. Feels flimsy before installed but after install it’s solid and much more precise for lining your cut marks up. This will be tested extensively since I’m a trim carpenter by trade.

This installed quickly and easily into my DWS780 - only installation issues were a result of Dewalt's design rather than anything to do with this insert. I used calipers and measured - it's the same thickness throughout the insert. Is this something that a woodworker could make on their own? Absolutely - with a planer or jointer and time on your hands.Overall this is a quality product, but there are similar products on Amazon for about $10 less, so I'll leave it up to you.

True to size and thicker than most I've had. Easy install, great value for precision cut
