My Kapex mitre saw is one of my most used tools in my workshop as I do everything from fine woodworking projects to rough-in carpentry. For those in the unknown this insert's utility serves 2 purposes:1. Keeps smaller debris from falling into the crevice2. For more precise cuts this zero clearance helps ensure splinter free cuts on the backside of your wood (it provides back pressure to ensure a cleaner cut)For most folks this is not needed unless you demand utmost precision. Heed caution, to maximize the use of this guard use only one specific blade, otherwise you will loose some of that performance. IMHO I think it should only be used with thinner blades with high teeth count.I graded this as 4 stars because I'm not keen on the thinner MDF construction as its more prone to moisture damage vs composite or plastic. Note I keep my Kapex outside in a garage. Nevertheless I recommend this for those looking for a KAPEX solutions.

If you are using a Festool saw, you know what this does. It’s made of a mid-tier MDF and CNC machined to almost fit…it’s a bit too long. Easy enough to fix with some sandpaper. The screw holes are in the correct location, which is all that matters.Cutting the slot took a few seconds. It’s nice to be able to now slice a sliver off a board without having the waste piece drop through. Having it manufactured too long is sloppy, but not serious enough (to me) to knock off a star. It works and it’s cheap…

I had a feeling this might not be the best, and it is not. First off, it's just an inexpensive piece of MDF, probably made on a CNC. Not exactly high quality material. Granted it's a zero clearance insert, so it's going to get cut and it's going to get banged up. But, it doesn't get much cheaper when it comes to material. Not exactly It is CNCed well enough, sort of. The big issue, this does NOT fit my Kapex 120. I don't think it off too much, and I should be able to sand it to make it fit, but you should not have to work on a new product to make it fit like it is suppose to. Certainly not something they claim is a "perfect fit".I'll keep this around and make it work, if needed, but I'll stick with my Colliflower insert. Would not recommend this one. Not at the current price of 18 bucks.
