This leash was perfect for our hamster. It is adjustable and could fit bigger animals too.

Good ideas vs. Bad Ideas 🐹I was surfing the internet last week, when I encountered what I thought was a good idea… or at the very least an entertaining idea for my 27 students. From the pages of Amazon beckoned the cutest little leash ever! A leash made for a hamster! I could picture our little Hamlet scurrying happily around our classroom and maybe even down the hallways. The kids would love it! The Amazon Prime magician whisked my purchase to my door only one day later than advertised, and I wasted no time trying it out. Nowhere on the reviews did it mention that wrangling a hamster into this contraption would cause me to question my sanity. However, I persevered because 27 happy kids would be worth it….right? Finally, Hamlet was unwillingly strapped in and ready for his maiden voyage down the hall. (Good idea: Not taking him outside) Hamlet timidly walked down the hall unsure about this new found freedom. Then we reached the living room. (Bad idea: really should have went to a smaller room and shut door) Hamlet found the dark abyss under the couch very enticing and picked up the pace. No problem, I mean this teeny tiny, made in China contraption is securely fastened to his tiny furry body…The Chinese distributor of this fine item wouldn’t lead me astray. WRONG. As Hamlet dashed under the couch he came outta that leash like a greased pig🤦🏼♀️ As I look in horror at the end of my now empty leash it occurs to me that this was a very bad idea. Now, instead of having 27 giggling children I was going to have to tell them that Hamlet escaped and was on the lam. Then pure horror takes over and I forget all about the kids. I have let a glorified mouse escape in my house. WHAT HAVE I DONE! In a complete panic I drop to my hands and knees peering into the darkness under the couch calling to Hamlet (like he was going to just scurry on out just because I called for him) and praying to the good Lord that he was still under there somewhere. I yell to my son, who is laughing hysterically, to bring a flashlight. He comes back with a camping lantern which does little help my cause. However, after wedging my body and the lantern under the reclining portion of the couch I was able to detect movement from the furthest corner of the darkness. To my relief Hamlet was sitting among the dust bunnies munching on what I can only guess was a long lost piece of popcorn. (Don’t judge my house cleaning) My relief is short lived as I realize that I can’t reach Hamlet and he is definitely not rushing over to me. Desperation gave me my last good idea. Strawberries! Thank goodness Hamlet is addicted to strawberries! Lucas goes to fetch the strawberry treats because I was not taking my eyes off the escapee and I was pretty sure that I was permanently stuck under the couch. Finally, strawberry drop in hand, I wave the treat around and beg Hamlet to come and get it. Just like a drug addict, Hamlet rushes to me like a starved rodent and takes hold. I made a mad grab for him and actually caught him on the first try! (Shocking I know!) We won’t talk about getting out from under the couch and out of the floor with a disgruntled hamster in tow. He is happily back in his cage where he will remain. The dust bunnies uncovered in this rescue mission have been vanquished along with the leash. I mean who in their right mind would try to put a hamster on leash🤷🏼♀️

Honestly I’m always so skeptical when buying something so inexpensive but I’m ordering another because I’m so happy with it. My rat Ducky is now able to run around and climb up my trees and I don’t have to worry about her getting too far from me. I’m definitely ordering another for my other rat.

Good product. My my rats didn't mind it being on them and was happy to roam with it on. Will test more indoors before going outside though as 1 did wriggle out of it when it stopped them going under the sofa.

It does work and yes he can wiggle out over time because these kind of critters have the flexibility to do so but for the most part it does what it's supposed to.

I've tried 2 other harnesses for my female rats and none of them have worked really well until this one! The first one I bought they slipped right out of, and the second one I got scared them so they wouldn't move when it was on them. This harness is perfect! It fits tightly, and both girls were totally comfortable running, jumping, climbing, and even grooming in this harness! The harnesses could, in theory, be chewed through, but neither of my girls tried. The material is soft to the touch and light enough that it didn't bother the rats or restrict their movement!

I bought this for my pet rats. As many rat owners will know, it's very easy for them to wiggle out of most harnesses. After using 2 different types prior to buying this I'm happy to say that it actually works!
