The hole size is large enough to allow for seasonal ground movement and to keep the latch working properly.
  • [Easy to Install] It is equipped with double-sided tape to help positioning. Just attach the latch plate to the door frame and install the screws. When installing, no need to mark the location just keep holding the board. Removable double-sided tape helps test the position before tightening the screws.
  • [With 16 Screws] The package includes long and short screws. You can install a combination of long and short screws for more reinforcement. You can also install all short screws for easy installation. The package includes sufficient short screws.

I have a huge old full front wooden door that needed a new strike plate pretty badly and this fits it great, looks nice and isn't too much money compared to buying a whole new door.
