  • This RCWL-0516 module has the characteristics of high sensitivity, high induction distance, high reliability, large induction angle, wide power supply voltage range, etc. it is widely used in various kinds of human body induction lighting and alarm and so on.
  • The module adopts a dedicated signal processing chip RCWL-9196, with stable performance;Trigger mode: Repeated trigger;
  • With a wide working voltage of 4~28V; Working current: 2.8mA~3mA;Output voltage driving capacity: 100mA; Output voltage: 3.2V~3.4V (Typ 3.3V);Output control low level: 0V; Output control high level: 3.3V.
  • The RCWL-0516 microwave radar sensor module can detect inert object at the condition that it has enough density, volume and it is in motion.This microwave detector board can not only detect human but animals and water; Compared with traditional infrared sensing PIR, it has the ability to penetrate and detect;
  • Microwave radar sensor will sense motion through most anything. The more shielding there is, the less detection range you get. I can detect motion through glass, drywall walls, ceilings and floors. It is very sensitive. You might have to filter the power supply.

Specification:
Operate Volt.: 4-28V
Output Volt.:3.2-3.4V
Operate Current: 2.8mA (Typ); 3mA (Max)
Detection Distance:5-7M
Transmit Power: 20mW (Typ); 30mW (Max)
Output Volt. Driving Capacity: 100mA
Trigger Way:Repeat Trigger
Output Control Level: 0V~3.3V
Pin function description:
1.3V3: 3.3V output volt, drive current 100mA.
2.GND: module ground.
3.OUT: control signal output, when moving in the detection area, OUT outputs high level; C-TI can set the repetitive trigger time, when trigger signal (object moving) within the repetitive trigger time, it will continuously output high level; when no moving object in the detection area, it will output low level.
4.VIN: module power input, 4-28V
5.CDS: trigger control signal; 0.7V, detection works normally. CDS pin is connected to a photoresistor, and the module detection function can be turned off at night.
Adjustment description:
1.C-TM
Adjust the repetitive trigger time, the default trigger time is 2S. Increasing the capacitance will increase the repetitive trigger time. The actual calculation of the repetitive trigger time can be done as follows:
Attach a capacitor to C-TI, test the frequency f of pin 3 of 9196, and the repetitive trigger time T=(1/f)*32768
2.R-GN
Adjust the detection distance, connect the resistor, and the detection distance becomes smaller. If not connected, the detection distance is about 7, and if connected to 1 resistor, the detection distance is about 5. Customers can adjust according to actual conditions.
3.R-CDS
The internal VCC is connected to the CDS pin (i.e. pin 9 of 9196) in parallel with the internal 1M resistor through R-CDS, and a photoresistor is connected to the CDS to turn off the module detection function at night. The R-CDS value can be set according to the actual ambient brightness required.

This review is for the "2PCS RCWL-0516 Microwave Radar Induction Module Sensor Switch Module Intelligent Induction Switch Module Human Detection Sensor Body Sensor."I'm using these in a pic project, so I'm having to rewrite code to directly manipulate the processor on board. The boards I received are actually well made. Solder is even and components aren't all crooked. Sometimes that can make a difference with these sensors.There is some support on the web for interfacing with various development processor boards like the Raspberry Pi and pico. Worthy of recommendation.

These motion sensors can be tricky to use because you have to be careful about nearby wires and metal surfaces that affect performance in ways that are hard to predict. But once set up, they seem to be better than PIR motion sensors at detecting motion specifically from people and animals. They're also super tiny and can be completely hidden behind wood or plastic in ways that PIR sensors can't.
