This was surprisingly heavy in a good way, meaning that it is great quality and very durable. Overall, it works really well to figure out what size your ring is then to shape and or resize your ring. The hammer isn’t the best for an experienced jeweller but works well for beginner to intermediate users. I think this is a great set to get yourself started with silversmithing or if you just need to size a ring at home.

This is a great set. The aluminum ring sizing stick is clearly marked and has a knurled handle to make it easy to hold on to. The ring sizing rings are solidly made - feel like chromed steel, so no worries about them getting misshapen during use. The nylon faced mallet is really nice too- has a great weight to it. The metal face is polished well also. So if you do need to stretch metal on the second tapered mandrel, you can. The steel mandrel doesn't have any size markings, so you don't have to worry about the inside of the ring getting marred during shaping/stretching.

These things are HUGE. I was so surprised! Not a fan of the hammer head being plastic. I don't really trust that it is non-marring, but I tried on an old gold ring of mine that was slightly bent out of shape, worked fine. I don't know that I would be so brave on a newer ring of mine. The ring sizer (cone) is why I bought this. Works well, showed me that my rings were both size 7, when I was unsure if they both were. One bad thing, this rings Keychain with all the finger ring sizers was missing size "6-", it has two size "6". This kind of sucks, because if you don't in now your size and you don't have that specific size, this item is kind of useless. Fir that I took off 1 star, and 1 star off for the plastic head to the hammer.

These four-piece ring sizing tools helped me a lot with my wire-wrapped ring making. These tools are useful not only for ring sizing but also for shaping rings. Plus, the tools are very sturdy.

I have no experience in metal jewelry repair, but I ordered this set to fix my favorite spinner ring that got crushed. Upon opening the box, there was a faint smell of machine oil and metal, but it cleared quickly.The mallet and mandrel both have a textured grip, which made handling them easier. While the mallet’s head appears to be plastic rather than rubber (a bit disappointing), it didn’t leave marks on my ring during repairs. However, my ring did leave noticeable marks on the mallet head, which makes me question its durability.The metal ring gauge set measures in 1/2 increments from 0 to 15, with half sizes marked with a "-". I double-checked the accuracy of the gauge and mandrel, and they matched perfectly.This set was easy to use, and I successfully repaired my ring in about 20 minutes. I’m happy with the results and plan to fix a few more bent rings with this kit. I rated it 4 stars because the mallet’s longevity concerns me, but overall, this kit worked well and met my needs.

I got this set primarily for the ring size mandrel and metal stick for forming rings. Everything included in the kit seems solid and well made. The ring size mandrel and ring sizers all seem to check out as far as being accurate in sizing. THe ring size mandrel is metal and has a good weight to it so it should hold up well and not become deformed. The hammer that comes with it has a good weight to it and can be used without marring metals. The solid stick is smooth and should be able to be used for a long time. Overall I am very happy with the set.
