Advanced Home Water Test by Tap Score box

The Advanced Home Water Test

Comprehensive water quality assessment

Recommended for comprehensive water quality testing in any home, building, or facility served by a water utility or a private well (especially those located near industrial or agricultural activity).

What is tested for?

This Tap Score water testing package includes a detailed analysis of common water health concerns related to natural water chemistry, nearby human activity, and on-premise plumbing, such as heavy metals, minerals, bacteria, hardness, silica, and volatile organic compounds (related to chlorination process and/or industrial activity).

You'll receive everything you need

Every test includes step-by-step instructions for sampling, the bottles and vials needed for the contaminants included, and a sample information card you'll need to fill out.

This is the right test for you if:

  • Are served by a water utility, or a private or shared well.
  • Live in a home built before 1986 or an area served by old infrastructure.
  • Have a septic tank near the well or other source of potential bacterial contamination.
  • Have young children or other vulnerable individuals in your home.
  • Are concerned about nearby industrial activity.
  • Want to check for chemicals from plastic pipes.
  • Are concerned about over-chlorination and the resulting chemicals.
DIY kits vs Lab Tests comparison

Use reliable testing, go the laboratory kit route

Laboratory test kits like Tap Score's are more reliable than DIY test strips. Yes, they may be less expensive and quick to use, but the results will not include a wide range of contaminants possibly in your water, they are not accurate and are subject to misinterpretation.

Laboratory test kits, on the other hand, can test for hundreds of different analytes, are tested by a network of certified labs, and Tap Score will give you unbiased and independent treatment advice based on your results.

This was so helpful in figuring out what I needed to safely drink my water. All the free tests were just trying to sell me filters. This test was easy, the report great, and Robin helped me understand my test and how to filter my water to have safe drinking water. I highly recommend this test if you have concerns with your water supply. Just follow the easy directions and a couple of days later you will be good to go. Thanks Robin. You guys rock!

The test was easy to order, perform, send back, to register and check results. It's also easy to download the report to email to water treatment companies to get recommendation for how to treat my water's specific issues. Yes, it took a couple of weeks to get results, but the wait was worth it. The report is very easy to read and I could click on individual components for more information. There's so much more information than what I got from the basic test the county health department does for free. It was also cheaper than the county's fees for the extensive additional testing I wanted performed. The report also included information about which water treatment technologies will solve each of my specific water issues. We have a new build with a new well. The report showed a couple areas of concern and gave me information to make informed decisions on treatment that will meet my goal of retaining minerals in our water. It still took me some time to research, talk to treatment companies, and create a workable solution. I ran into some roadblocks with treatment companies just wanting to do standard treatments like a salt-based water softener and an RO system but that wouldn't meet our goals or health needs. Customer Service was very responsive and was able to educate me on a couple points so that I could keep moving with putting together a solution. They even went above and beyond answering not only the question I came to them with but helping answer a deeper question that actually solves my issue even though it took a little more time and effort for the customer service representative to talk with others there and get a thorough answer to my question. I'm more than impressed (and I don't impress easily). I'll be using them in the future for my water testing needs for sure!

Easy to use, with a lengthy list of analytes. The results have really helped both reassure us on our quality of water, as well as identify a couple of issues related to older plumbing (which we assumed we would need to replace, but these tests have confirmed some needs that we didn't originally consider)!.Knowing about these issues has informed us on what we can do to mitigate it, until we finish our plumbing upgrades. I think this was well worth the cost. The support via chat was very helpful in understanding how the tests were done, and on interpretation of the results, and on what items were tested from each vial / draw.Just be aware that the elemental portion of the test is only performed on the First Draw sample in the Advance Test. My only wish is that there was an option to have elementals be tested on both First Draw and Full Flush samples, in order to conclusively identify plumbing vs. source water issues within a single sample and test, and to show the reduction levels achieved on contaminants via the full flush. One will have to obtain an additional test or tests if one wishes to do an elementals test on a Full Flush sample.Of course, that would be additional cost to fully test the advanced list of elements on two vials, but it would be nice to have a kit that option. That said, the elementals detected in our sample are almost always related to plumbing, and we need to upgrade older plumbing anyway. This will likely reduce or eliminate the items detected, so we'll just retest again after we have the plumbing work done. All in all, the testing was very helpful and worth the investment. If you have any question about the quality of your water or on potential contaminants, I would recommend.

Still waiting on the results, so I don't have feedback for that. The package I received had so many different cards with various instructions here and there, it was a little difficult to piece together the whole process. They tell me to activate before I take the sample, but then they want me to fill in the date and time of sampling. I can't fill that in until I know when I'm sampling it, and I'm not at a computer at the sample site. After I sampled, I packaged everything up only to realize the report number is only on materials that are in the box headed for testing. I had to contact their customer service to retrieve it. Overall, the system could be a little better designed.

That's what caused us to order a testing kit. We noticed we were both getting headaches when drinking water from the fridge dispenser, so why not figure out what the heck is going on.The test was super simple, you just have to plan out when you draw your samples. We waited to draw ours first thing in the morning to make sure we got a good test of our pipes along with our city water. After that we packed it up and shipped it out to TapScore. Shipping (from CA) was the longest part of the process. Once in house the test took less than 72 hours to get us results - which shocker. Our tap water is crap. Well, not horrible - better than 52% of the country, but worse than 48%. The cool part is TapScore has some educational stuff on what filters you could buy/instal to help whatever impurity issue you are having. For now we have switched to Crystal Geyser jugs while we debate our options. Funny enough, no more headaches, and we had a couple other symptoms clear up after we switched to bottled water (my heartburn magically disappeared in a couple weeks after months on PPI meds). So yeah. Expensive for sure, but worth it to know what we are dealing with in our house.
