TL/DR: All features work, sounds good especially at higher power outputs/volume, build quality seems excellent for the price point, power is good for most speakers. The amp looks good when running, and audio quality is good, giving a functional and nice looking heart for a simple sound system. Before I get into the review itself, I need to point out that there appear to be multiple listings for this product, with different reviews. I'm always a bit concerned when I see that. I also need to say that I'm not chasing a HiFi dragon, just looking for things that sound good at reasonable prices. Many of the reviews on other listings raise quality concerns, but I haven't personally experienced the issues I saw raised.Longer:This amp came very nicely packaged, and it looks really nice. When powered up, the glow of the tubes and VU meters make a statement. More to the point, the amp sounds good when hooked to decent speakers. I've tried it with a few different speakers and I think it is a great match for moderate efficiency speakers. Ideally something just efficient enough that you can run at higher power outputs without overwhelming you with sound. The output for a powered subwoofer makes this even more perfect, because you can run smaller speakers and a subwoofer for well rounded sound. Add in a subwoofer and this would be a great amp to build a bookshelf sound system around.Does the tube preamp really make a difference? Yes, but I am hesitant to say it's an important difference. Comparing it to an amp that's intended to be as colorless as possible (for a reasonable price), you can notice a difference but it's really hard to describe. The results are pleasant and both music and movies sound good through this amp. But it isn't as big a difference as you'd get with a tube guitar amp, for example. I think most people will either not notice, or will like the sound. If you are really into HiFi audio you may end up with a different opinion but if you are really into that you probably aren't buying a generic sub-$300 hybrid amp.The amp has a stack of useful inputs including USB, allowing it to be used as anything from a way of connecting speakers to your computer, to a way of listening to vinyl records in an end-to-end analog setup. Bluetooth works well in my testing. Switching between inputs is convenient, with a button for each input so you can directly select the input you want. What I really like about this amp is that - just glancing at it - you would think it was a product from 50 years ago, but it has all of the modern features I want for an audio amplifier. It looks good enough that I can have it out on a table or shelf, it sounds good enough that I can enjoy listening to music with it. You can just plug in speakers and power, pair it to your phone, and start listening, or you can hook up a turntable, CD player, maybe a Raspberry Pi running Squeezeboxlite, and have all kinds of choices for music sources. It's surprisingly difficult to find any amplifier that has this combination of features at a reasonable price, even if you disregard the tube preamp.Where I wouldn't like this is if I was planning to use it with a TV. Lack of HDMI ARC and CEC make this a less than ideal match for a TV. It will work, and it sounds good, but it doesn't integrate as nicely as other solutions.I also wouldn't like this if I was trying to keep, size, weight, or power use to a minimum. It uses a lot of power (relatively speaking), is fairly big by modern standards, and weighs a surprising amount. The size and weight are probably more likely to be positive than negative, but if you want a small light and efficient solution, this isn't it.

The case looks well-made, so not an issue with thatThe instructions are very limited and even less test contentDoes not even explain how to use it or install itYou would expect due to the high cost for just an AMP that is only 2 channels at only 50 watts eachthat it would come with a remote controlThis means every time you need to make adjustment as to sound level, bass ad treble or power on or offyou have to walk over to the unitHas 5.0 Bluetooth, which is mentioned in seller's Amazon ad, but nothing in limited instructions about itnor any software or APP even if your device could connect to itSimply has 1 left and 1 right speaker channelsNo front / rear or a balance slider switchHas 2 VU meters I have not seen pointers move at all, and they have a light that you cannot turn offso their bright lights are not liked when wanting to have home lights offAllows for several audio input devices, but instructions do not even mention them and only by chance I foundeach one has a small push button, this also means every time wanting to switch to a different deviceyou have to walk to it and press the correct switchDid not know until I did all the speaker wiring that I could not get the sub-wolf speakers to work and had to check all my wiring to only find out the only way to get the sub-wolf function of this product to work is the sub-wolf speakers also have to have their own ampsSimple 2 channel 50 watts each for a high cost
