After seeing mixed reviews I decided “why not” and bought this reel. I purchased this for creek fishing in Southern California and it’s perfect so far. Solid/durable feel. Nice smooth drag and sounds great. No defects/dings/scratches upon arrival. If I didn’t know the price and was asked to guess, I would say $50+. Overall it’s a great little reel at a price point under $30. Plus the green matches my fly rod perfectly so that’s a plus lol

This real has been excellent for the money. It does everything you’d expect from a reel at this price level. The finish is great, stripping line with the correct drag setting is a breeze and it handles my Rio 5wt sinking line like a champ. I usually don’t get into the drag on most fish that I catch with the exception of the occasional Largemouth Bass so I can’t comment on how affective it is under load, but adjusting is is very smooth and seams to have a fine adjustment. I’ll be getting more of these reels in the future.

went to spool reel up with braid line and the sinking fly line , used it one time and the spring assemble broke making the reel not stay together , AVENTIK does make great products i have owned in the past, but lately there slipping away from being a good products , there reviews are slipping away?

Drag is actually fairly smooth and powerful. Has landed several 20”+ browns and rainbows on my 8 wt. Can’t beat the value, took one star off for the handle coming loose but that was fixed with a flathead screwdriver and the paint chips fairly easily but nothing too serious

Decent. A little heavy. Spool a little wobbly. Aventik’s graphite Reel is a better buy, lighter and smoother but probably not as strong if dropped on rocks. Good drag on both reels. The DJ has a larger arbor which is good if it’s capacity is the same.Update: Bought 3 more (with extra spools) because the price was so good. Upgraded to 5 stars. None of these have wobbly spools. Like the drag’s smooth control. Seems like a rugged outfit. Great Value!

Great diecast reel, drag system seems very good. I’d compare this reel to any $100 die cast reel. I got this as a backup reel for wading and kayak fishing and so far it has held up very will, drag doesn’t stick . I would highly recommend this to anyone looking into their first fly setup. Or as a backup to any reel in your arsenal
