i would have thought by needing to extend the battery terminal out, you would then connect the battery connectors. to do this, you need to drill and tap the device to accommodate the connector

Perfectly to add a second battery to my vehicle. I had to use a side post battery but wanted to use aftermarket terminals so I ordered these terminal lugs which thread into the battery and mimic a top post setup
