It has a very pleasant and warm sounds. Still getting used to holding it correctly. Definitely makes guitars sounds warmer and fuller. It does however reduce dynamics to a certain extent. It's not an all-in-one pick but definitely one you would want to have in your pick collection. A bit pricey but quality is seldomly cheap.

You can't hold on to them. You can feel how they slide over the strings, they also slide out of your hand. I've tried scoring the non cork side, attaching rubber disks, neither works.I don't care how a pick slides over strings or how good it sounds, if you lose it after 2 bars. It's unfortunate, there are significant things to like, but if it escapes your grasp, it's useless.I'd be happy to take suggestions.

It is crazy how this changes the sound of an acoustic guitar. I was pretty skeptical at first but even my kids who don't play can hear the tone change.

I'm not sure what they make these out of, but that material sounds really good, it doesn't have too much of a chime nor is it too dull nor does it sound like a piece of glass against the strings. My reason for four stars is, I can't hold on to the darn thing. Whatever material that is makes it very slippery, in the cork insert is only on one side so it does help some but I still couldn't hold on to it until I put hockey stick tape on it. They are definitely on to something with the material that they used to make these, so don't be afraid to give him a shot.

I would recommend this for an acoustic player who likes a thick hard pick and wants a different sound, but there are some things that can be improved in the design. I do not think this is my favorite pick or will be played most of the time, but it is different than the rest which makes it unique.I will only compare this to my favorite thick picks that I use on an acoustic Martin 000-15SM with D'Addario XS PB 12'S: Blue chip Large Triangle 50 and 55, D'Addario Large Triangle Casein 1.4mm, and a 3mm Buffalo Horn similar size and shape as this pick. This pick may interact with your guitar much differently than mine so adjust for my specs It's not a bad value for 4 picks made out of a unique material, so you should get them.Tone: it is warm as advertised. It has noticeably less volume than the other picks I use. I think some customers may not like the string noise this material and shape create. If you love this pick but wish it was louder and clearer with more string seperation, the Bufflo Horn pick will suit you. But if you are seeking a guitar sound to sit back further if you are a singer, than these may be better for you.String Noise:There is a clackiness on the attack like a Buffalo Horn or an acrylic pick. Some others in the reviews count this as a negative and I tend to agree. If you don't like it, hopefully they will make a large triangle with beveled edges shape to reduce this (the blue chips by far will reduce this the most)Quality:Picks are well made, and are good quality and polish. The cork in mine doesn't fit perfectly into the center punch of the picks but does not affect playing.Grip:The cork does help grip but it being on one side only is a mistake. The actual pick material can sometimes be super good by itself and stick to the finger and other times it's as slippery as glass. Am improvement would be to have either the cork on both sides or no cork and just a deeper thumb groove for grip. Sometimes with a loose grip the thumb holds but the trigger finger slips around. I think the grip could also be improved if they just laser etched a gun grip pattern on both sides especially if they made a large triangle shaped model. The grip is one of the negatives of the pick that could be improved with some changes by the manufacturer.Shape:The shape is okay. The tip of the pick is also a nice sharp tear drop which I enjoy especially with a thick 3mm Bufallo horn pick, or any of my electric guitar picks because of the increased picking accuracy. Most players will be more familiar with the shape but for such a hard pick it feels too small. The grip and the pick in general would be greatly improved to be made as a large triangle pick. The pick probably could not require the cork if it had more to grip. It would help with having 3 pick tips if wear is a concern, trippling longevity. It would also be easier to bevel the tips to lower string noise and the clackiness.Value: these are much cheaper than my favorite picks except they are about the same as the Buffalo Horn one.If they made these changes above in an improved, I would buy that pick instantly even at twice or 3 times the price and highly recommend them!

These picks might be fine for electric guitar players, but I found them to be very noisy on acoustic stringed instruments. The only way I can describe the sound is 'clacky.' So if you're an acoustic guitar player you might not like them.

Black Mountain just cannot stop innovating. Please just keep on innovating. Don’t mind my head exploding in the background. I’ve used a jazz III for years. It did actually make me a better guitar player. If you aren’t familiar with Black Mountain check out their ring slide. I just adore it! Or any of their products. So naturally I had to try these. I mean there is actually an energy around their products. It’s like I pick up this pick (you get 4) and the heavens open and angels sing “Hallelujah”! It’s just a fantastic feeling pick. It takes a little getting used to but tone is phenomenal! I feel like it gives me more control. Their products are worth their weight in gold. So yeah, take a chance, spend a little more and get something you will treasure for a lifetime. Thank you, Black Mountain for every brain exploding, mind expanding innovation. Keep ‘em coming! Keep exploding and expanding my mind. I love guitar and obviously you do too. Mind officially blown! Much love ❤️ and gratitude!

A bit pricey @ $5 a pick but i have to say i really like them and they seem they will stand a lot of string wear as well. The seem well made and overall i am very happy with purchase.
