Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.  The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.  Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

We love this brand of shoes. They last and look great for the whole dance season or until the dancer grows out of them! Very comfortable and a great price!

These are the required shoes for little ballerinas at many studios. Quality is great, and price is about half of what you’ll pay at a dance boutique store for the same brand.

My seven year old wears a size 2 street shoe and I ordered a size 2 1/2 ballet shoe. They fit her well with a little room to grow.

Quality of the leather is good and with the additional strings they can be adjusted to fit the feet snugly. Overall very good shoe.

These are exactly the ballet slipper I was looking for. I ordered a size 2.5 M for my 7 year old and was hoping they would have a little room to grow. My daughter has a fairly wide foot so I took a lot of time trying to figure out sizing. They couldn't be more perfect and she loves the daisy print inside.

Great ballet slipper. Nice quality. I took the advice of other reviewers and ordered one full size larger than my daughter wears and the slipper was....about one size too big. Luckily with the elastic tie we can cinch it up and make it wearable. I wish we had only gotten a 1/2 size larger instead of a full size. My daughter loves the flowers on the lining and she'll grow into the slipper eventually. Overall, happy with the quality, look and price of the slipper.

I measured my daughters foot at 8 inches and ordered a size 2.5 (the size chart stated that the foot should measure 8 1/8 in. for size 2.5). I wanted to order them a bit bigger so she could have room to grow. They are a little big for her, but the draw string allows her to still wear them comfortably. If I would've went with size 2, they would've fit her perfectly. They are very nice ballet shoes and they arrived in about 5 days. My daughter loves them!

These look nicely made, but the sizing is roughly street shoe sizing, as other reviewers have noted. You could say this means "they run true to size," but that's highly misleading, as ballet shoes normally run a size or so small. To repeat: they run true to *street* size, not normal ballet shoe size--at least in size 2.5. So, just be aware of that as you order or you'll be like me, shelving these shoes for a year before using them. (Luckily, girls grow, as the shoes are really not worth the time and postage to return.)
