This slicer/chopper is built well and is very solid. It has plenty of leverage to easily slice the onions and potatoes I tested it out on. The removable blade is easily removed for cleaning. That said, I personally didn't find it very useful. The onion slices after one pass through the blade look similar to the slices of a Blooming Onion. You can pass these slices through again, but they're still too large for what I would like and I ended up cutting them again with a knife. When I tried to slice a potato to make French fries, the device wouldn't open up enough to get a suitable sized potato inside it. I cut the potato in half, but then the fries were really short.I think what would improve this device, in my opinion, is to have an additional blade that could be swapped out to make smaller pieces of veggies, and also a longer throw for full size potatoes. This may very well serve a purpose for others depending on what it's used for, but I prefer my slap type chopper for onions and potatoes.

I was very surprised at the size of this when it arrived. I am such a sucker for kitchen gadgets, especially if they seem like they'll speed up my prep time. This chopper works well, but more often than not, I just end up cutting things without it rather than pulling it out and dealing with the cleaning. However, when I do use it, such as when I am cooking for other people or doing days' worth of meal prep at a time, then it does come in handy. The blade comes out easily for washing, and it's recommended to use a little brush to help get all the places where food gets stuck.

I was skeptical of this device when I ordered but the thing is actually a beast. It is much bigger than it looks in the photo, its as long as my forearm and the cutter part is bigger than my hand. I could easily fit a whole large onion in there, but I usually quarter jumbo onions first. You have to grip the handles in the right spot for leverage but it's very easy to push the whole onion through in one push. I imagine it would be ideal for someone who processes alot of onions or other veggies throughout the day, its a little large for cooking for one unless I am making a chopped veggie heavy dish.

This Chef'n onion slicer and chopper seemed very promising, and I was excited to use it in my kitchen, as I frequently need to chop onions for meals. However, upon putting a chunk of yellow onion in and squeezing, the gadget had a rather hard time chopping into the onion, and ended up just smashing a lot of it! I don't really know how I can beat use this tool, but I might not hold onto it permanently. I don't strongly recommend this, due to my own experience.

This is my first product from this brand and I'm impressed. The Chef'n Onion Slicer and Chopper does what it says, does it well, and will last. The blades are sharp and the build is sturdy.I got this mostly to use for potatoes and it's a time-saver. I use small potatoes for a favorite dish. They fit perfectly in the chopper. I did have to cut the potato pieces in half after slicing, but the chopper saved me a lot of time overall.Cleaning is easy. The body of the chopper is top-rack dishwasher safe, the part with the blade unscrews and comes off for hand washing. Depending on what you're chopping, a simple rinse or wipe with soap and sponge will take care of most cleaning jobs.If you have space for an extra gadget and do a lot of chopping or slicing of soft fruits and vegetables, this product will save you time and effort.

It was great to have this in the cooking crush of the holiday season. You have to position the onion just right in order to get the best use out of this device - basically to mince it as fine as possible using the natural onion layers to your advantage.Or you can just pick up the first crush and put them back in to slice again. It uses minimal hand and arm effort which was really nice, and the blades twist off easily for cleaning. The arms move very easily and smoothly, and there are clear instructions available.Just watch out with the lever mechanism. I was manipulating the lever mechanism to clean it and didn't pay too much attention to exactly where my fingers were: I got one of the pads of my fingers partially closed in the mechanism and thank goodness I opened it before real damage was done. I ended up with a deep bruise and pinch marks/paired punctures on my finger pad, it hurt like the dickens. More pressure though and it would have sheared deep into my finger and I would have had a holiday ER story.

Originally I got this to replace the slap chop we have. The slap chop is loud and I'm not a fan of the removable blades. Had an incident once. After some use, this works better in instances where the item is round or you need something quick. Whereas the slap chop would be great for something like carrots or other long fruits and vegetables.Anyway where this shines is as a compliment to the slap chop. This does what it cant faster. For example, I removed the stem from an apple and sliced away. Apple sticks in no time! Need to remove the core first next time. But, I couldn't imagine trying to slap chop a whole apple or onion. This can, as long as it fits in the base. Small potatoes? Yes. Tomatoes? Yes. If the item being sliced is round, Id use this over a slap chop. Or if it's something small and quick, way easier with this.
