Tie Dye Kit - Rose Red Fabric Dyes for Clothing, Permanent Non-Toxic for Large Groups Kids Adults Tie Dye, Tye Fabric Textile Handmade Party - Just Add Water(Rose Red, 2 oz)First impressions: Nice small jar of dye for tie dying fabrics. The dye is a powder and weighed just under 2 ounces dumped out. There is little to no smell. I got 9 different colors from this same company and used them all on the test shirts.Installation/setup: I used this dye to best effect on a shirt that was soaked in soda ash, aka washing soda, in a solution of one cup to one gallon water for about 30 minutes. Then I tied the shirt while damp, placed it in a container and added the dry dye to the surface of the tied shirt. I then piled up a bunch of ice over the entire tied shirt and waited for the ice to melt. I then left it in the melted ice and dye for about 48 hours before rinsing, first with cold water, then a soak in hot water with blue Dawn dish soap after agitating with my hands. One more soak in the same mix of hot water and dish soap, then a machine wash in hot water and a standard laundry soap and machine dry. See the last pictures I added to this post. They are after washing and drying. I tried 2 different tests, first using 2 shirts tied differently and then a single shirt. The only difference in the 2 tests was the addition of soda ash.Final thoughts: I can’t say I agree with the instructions on the product page. This dye powder fades in the wash unless more soda ash is added either by presoaking the fabric or by sprinkling extra over the dye if ice dyeing. I qualify this by adding I didn’t try adding it to water and using it as a liquid dye but I can’t imagine it works any better. The first 2 shirts I dyed were on a regular 100 percent cotton t-shirt after washing and drying first. I tied them damp and followed the above instructions to ice dye and they faded quite a bit after washing - see pictures. The next thing I tried was my standard soda ash soak and a sprinkle over the dye before adding the ice. The dyes I usually use are professional dyes and those dyes also require soda ash to be added to make the dye permanently adhere to the fibers in the fabric. If there was soda ash in the dye powder in the jar, it wasn’t sufficient. Simply adding the soda ash, everything else being the same, yielded much better and brighter results. The soda ash is inexpensive and using these dyes I got great results as long as I added it as I usually do. The dyes from this company are strong and bright if used correctly. If you want to use them as a liquid, dilute them as recommended and use them on a fabric pre soaked with soda ash for best results. Soda ash aka washing soda can be found in any big box store or ordered here from Amazon. I like this dye and I’m glad I got it.⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

This tiny jar of powder has ZERO INSTRUCTIONS. I have never done tie-dye before, so this is useless to me. To begin with, I thought the dyes were liquid or a paste you could reconstitute, this is a powder. The print on the jar is so small that it is really difficult to make any of the words out. It just says you can mix it with other colors, embrace creativity, and have a fun ole time. There is no indication of measurements to use or how many uses I will get from this jar. The measurement of the jar is 2" wide and 1.5" tall. The other thing that confused me is the name "Tie Dye Kit". It is very deceptive. It is not a kit because there is nothing else included. You would think there would be gloves, instructions, rubber bands, or something that relates to tie-dying.
