Building or truing bladed spokes, it works better than cheaper types I tried. But you must have the matching spoke wrench that it fits inside.

I just got done building my first set of wheels. For both, I used a 'park tools' style spoke wrench, which is to say, the handle of the spoke wrench covered up the first 4 or 5cm of the spoke. the first wheel, I used a spoke holder that was a straight bar style. This means that either I had to carefully align the spoke holder so it fit inbetween the spoke wrench handles or I had to put the spoke holder further down the spoke.Now, because I was a wimp and used the "aerolite" bladed spokes that fit through regular-sized hub-flange spoke holes (rather than using badder bladed spokes and filing the flange holes so the badder spokes would filt) you have to remember that these spokes are wimpy and they twist easy. On that first wheel, before I bought this product, where I was working with the flat-bar spoke holders, a bunch of the spokes are twisted around like candy canes.Now, for the second wheel? For the second wheel, this product had arrived. And god damn, I appreciated it. With this thing, you slot the blade into this holder and you slide this holder so that the pointy end is right up against where the 'blade' part of the spoke becomes round.Then, you fit your spoke wrench on to the nipple and do your work as if you just had a #2 gauge spoke. It works beautifully, and my second wheel came out way better than you could expect for it being a second wheel.My only complaint about this part was the lack of prime shipping. I had to wait to build my second wheel until this came in.

with all the aerospokes on Mavic hubsets , this tool is a must and it works well in holding the spokes in an aerodynamic position during wheel truing .

This spoke holder facilitates adjusting spoke tension on bladed aero spokes. I am right-handed so I hold the tool in my left hand as I measure spoke tension and make adjustments with my right hand. It has worked well on both DT Swiss Aerolite and Sapim CX-Ray spokes.
