Okay, so I snagged this quick-change bit holder, and let me tell you, it holds bits like my dog holds onto a stolen sock: with absolute, unwavering commitment. Seriously, the locking mechanism? Fantastic. Bits aren't going anywhere once they're in there. It's like Fort Knox for your hex shanks. When I'm driving screws, that bit is planted. No wobble, no drama, just pure, unadulterated screwing power. Big thumbs up!Now, about that magnet... they weren't lying, it is there. You can technically say it "has one." But calling it functional might be a stretch. My bits already grip screws pretty well on their own, and this magnet? Let's just say its contribution is... philosophical. Like, it exists, therefore it might be helping? In practice, I noticed zero difference in screw-sticking power. It’s the bit holder equivalent of that "ab lounge" gathering dust in your basement – present, but questionable utility. Magnet: Present. Useful: ¯_(ツ)_/¯The Quirky Downside: Changing bits? Well... quick-change is a relative term. For standard 1" bits? Forget "quick," think "archaeological excavation." Getting that thing to release its precious cargo feels like negotiating with a tiny, metal Smeagol. "My precious bit! We doesn't wants to lets it go!" The locking mechanism doesn't just lock, it locks ON. You need fingernails of steel, the patience of a saint, and maybe some tiny pry bars you don't mind losing. Hex drive bits and longer hex bits? Much better! Almost... quick! But those stubby 1-inchers? Prepare for a workout. The Verdict (4 Stars Because the Grip is SO Good):Pros: Incredible bit grip. Zero wobble. Excellent for hex drive/longer hex bits. Actually quick-change for those.Cons: Magnet is basically decorative. Removing standard 1" bits requires Jedi mind tricks or excessive force. "Quick-change" feels ironic sometimes.Bottom Line: If you primarily use hex drive bits or longer hex bits, and you value a bit holder that WILL. NOT. LET. GO. this is a winner. Just be prepared to wrestle the short guys free, and consider the magnet a bonus existential feature, not a functional one. It’s not perfect, but that grip is so darn good, I’m willing to forgive the occasional hostage situation with my 1" bits. 4 stars for sheer holding power and hex-bit excellence! Just... maybe keep pliers handy.

Length is good and the mechanical lock is secure (all 3 of mine required some light oil on the collar / spring otherwise it would take 2 hands to load and unload your bit). Sadly I’m not impressed with the magnetism - I was hoping to find a short bit holder with mechanical lock that would hold a 3-3.5” decking screw (torx) so I could work the impact driver plus loaded screw with one hand and position my board with the other … no such luck. I’d rate the magnetism as fairly weak, it will pick up a paperclip, or hold a small screw in position to drive or help you retrieve a dropped small screw, but as far as a 3-3.5” framing / decking screw forgetaboutit ;-( won’t even pick it up out of the box. I have plenty of magnetic bit holders that won’t hold a screw.
