At first, I was so excited about this gate panels. The panels themselves seem well-made of sturdy metal tubing. The height is good. The appearance is high-quality, but the hinges connecting the two panels are lacking in quality. The hinges are small and screwed to the panels and instead of being welded and seem inexpensive. Right out of the box the hinges seemed loose and there was a significant amount of play to them. As I feared, the hinges failed after only a short period of use after they were knocked down by my dogs. These are nice looking and seem durable except for the connecting hinge. I gave them only three stars because they didn’t hold up to being knocked over once. If the hinge was improved I would give them full stars for their other good qualities.

This free-standing pet gate came with 2 metal fence pieces connected with 2 double hinges. Or at least, I think they were supposed to be double hinges that allow the gate to bend both directions. One of the hinges was installed differently than the other, so the gate would only fold one direction even though the hinges seemed more complex than your typical door hinge. The hinge that was installed correctly seems flimsy, so I haven’t bothered reinstalling the other one to match. The gate is pretty thin, meaning it’s lightweight for transport and thinner for storage. It should hold up just fine for just about any dog. That said, even with the wide feet that help it stand up in “freestanding” installation, a motivated or poorly-trained dog can easily push this fence out of the way.The nice part about this gate/fence is that you can see how it would connect to other pieces if you had more than 2 pieces of it. That said, for the price, this is really only useful as an outdoor fence (with the addition of more pieces) for small dogs. If you have a medium or larger dog, you should spend a bit more and buy a true outdoor kennel. The main reason I ordered this free-standing gate was because I thought I would use the metal gate pieces as the gates for a nice living room kennel that integrates as a piece of furniture. Given how thin it is, I think using this would make that furniture look cheap, so I probably won’t use it for that.

Super sturdy and solid gate! I love that it is free standing so I can move it around as needed. The metal is high quality and the walk through door is a perfect feature on it. I currently use it to protect my peach tree and it does a terrific job. Its exceeded my expectations and is a great product!

The design looks clean and modern, and it’s simple to set up. It’s best for pets that don’t challenge gates, since it’s freestanding. For calmer dogs or just creating a visual barrier, it’s great. I wouldn’t rely on it for very active pets or toddlers.

I was using a cardboard panel to block our staircase and keep our toy poodle from going up the stairs so this is a big upgrade for us!This gate arrived packed well without damage or scratches. It took about five minutes to set up. Instructions are included but it's so simple to put together that you really don't need them. They also include the right size Allen wrenches to make it even easier to assemble. What I like most about this gate is that it is free standing. You don't need to bore holes in your woodwork or attach it to anything. It is 100 percent portable! It's also lightweight enough to fold up and carry easily around the house. When not in use, you can tuck it away in a corner or store it behind the sofa like we do. It's the perfect width for blocking doorways and a good height for small to medium dogs, and while it does move slightly if they really push on it hard, the double sided feet keep it from collapsing or toppling over. I find that setting the gate with a slight bend at the hinges instead of straight across gives it a little extra support. The metal itself very sturdy and it's powder coated. It's an attractive looking gate and it is also expandable. You can buy more panels and attach them with hinges at the side if you need to block a wider opening or create a kennel. I may be a little pricey for only two panels, but it looks as though it will last a very long time. Overall, I'm thrilled with this item. You will be too!

We were previously relying on leaning gates and barriers against adjacent walls in order to block our curious puppy from roaming around the house. However, these were not fool-proof as he would push them aside, they would fall down, we would trip over them, and they scratched the walls as they were slid back and forth against them. This free-standing gate has been a game-changer! It is very sturdy with two easy-to-install feet that keep it from falling. It's metal and weighty enough that my puppy can't move it on his own. It's also foldable so we can easily open it to allow ourselves entry while being able to quickly close it behind us. A simple and quick yet effective way to block off any entrance less than 40" wide (can of course attach multiple of these to extend it though!). Great for small dogs that know their boundaries. That said, a larger dog that has a knack for jumping on or pushing barriers may be able to move it.

I adopted two kittens that were left outside my door at Halloween. They are now getting into a lot of things I don't want them to, so I ordered these to protect my two mature very large potted mandarin trees. What I liked most:* Does not attach to the wall* Easy to move* Can add additional panels if it isn't large enough* Made of sturdy metal* Effective tree guard from my cats* Tall enough to keep the cats from jumping over* Easy assemblyCons: NoneExperience: I pulled these out, assembled them and then set it up. I was worried that they cats would push them over but they didn't to my surprise. It is an effective barrier for them, as they cannot climb the metal bars. Will likely buy a couple more panels to make this a stair gate too when I need them to stay in an area.
