This kit is not for a beginner and I am a beginner since it does not come with detailed instructions. It seems to have all the right parts as advertised, except for a place to place the pods upright. I need to do more research online to figure it out, but I'm hoping it'll work once I figure it out.

I returned this. Cute idea and packing but absolutely no instructions. I had to sell some of these in my plant shop but I couldn’t due to the lack of information on them.

This kit is worth the money for the seed packets alone—it's not easy to find 5 seed varieties for $10.95, and when you add in the growing medium and nutrient solution, it definitely seems to be a good value. The particular selection of seeds is a bit odd to me—echinacea and chamomile are both known to get very tall before reaching maturity and don't seem ideally suited for an indoor hydroponic setup. But I guess I won't hold that against it. I don't have a hydroponic system, and I basically bought this kit for the seeds and for getting a few crops started indoors, and for that purpose, it's doing fine.Cold-stratification is recommended for lavender, so I popped that seed packet in the freezer. I plan to plant the echinacea directly in the garden, as that was recommended on the seed packet. I have too much lemon balm already, so I'll hold that in reserve. That leaves the mint and chamomile. To plant, I soaked the grow sponges for a few minutes, then nearly submerged them in water inside their plastic baskets. Seven baskets fit perfectly in a used cottage cheese container! I sprinkled half of the wet sponges with peppermint seeds and half with chamomile and placed them in a window and covered them with plastic. The included plastic lids proved useless for this endeavor, because they just rest on top of the baskets without anything to hold them in place. They slide off and get jostled out of position too easily, so I gave up on that and just used a single clear fast-food soda-cup lid to keep their environment humid. So far, so good. The chamomile germinated after 3 days!Because the grow sponges are much smaller than the little nursery pots I usually put my seed starts in, I am going to have to find a bigger home for them before it's time to transplant them. I may attempt some kind of DIY Kratky hydroponic setup. Maybe. I've never done that before, so I'll have to wing it, since the kit really didn't come with any instructions. For the present, I can't find any real gripes with this kit, other than the fact that some parts of it are kind of useless (at least to me) like the lids and labels.

Great kit! I genuinely only got this for the seed variety--these are a great value for the types of herbs included in the kit. I'm starting the seeds with hydroponics but will likely transfer overtime to soil out in my hard. Overall this seems like good quality and is definitely a great value for the money.

This is a great kit for my hydroponic system! Everything is the same size and fits perfectly. Plus, it's an excellent price for all that you get. I love using my hydroponic system to start seeds inside, since I live in a colder climate that doesn't allow a long enough season for outside growing - starting early really helps. The seeds seem to germinate a little faster with these than direct sow, the roots take off quickly, there's no smell or dirt to deal with getting accidentally spilled. These are great!

So far, I've planted the chamomile seeds, and they've already sprouted after a few weeks! These pods and sponges also fit perfectly in my hydroponics system, so I love it! Definitely worth the price for what you get.

Seeds very small - use tweezers. Still waiting for growth.

Works perfectly in my Aerogarden. No problem getting the seed to germinate and very simple to grow. The fertilizer works well too. No complaints.
