The first thing I want to say about this beautiful hiking journal is that it is reusable! It is a binder style that uses standard A6 loose leaf paper. That size is easy to find on Amazon or at my local big box office supply store.Being reusable is a big deal to me for two reasons:1. It helps prevent one more thing from going in the trash after a one time use2. The quality of this is so good that I expect I will get a number of years of use from this. For its primary purpose, it is a really nice idea. I love the prompts that are there to help you think about your hike and what you may want to recall about it.They include good quality paper. I have had no issues using various inks. Though I tend to not use gel pens for writing notes outside, I do like them when I’m sitting at my desk. The ink doesn’t bleed through on this paper. The closer is great because I can fill this beyond the paper that the binder will hold. Great for keeping some mementos or photos from the places we go.There are pockets on both sides of the inner cover. The pockets make sense and can hold things like passes, ID cards and even some cash.Obviously I’m giving this journal five stars and that is because it deserves it. The quality alone makes this well worth having. I think the cost is worth it for this because of the quality and because this can be used for years - and for other purposes.

I just love the way this feels in my hands. The leather is so smooth and smells so good. I originally planned to use it for kayaking trips rather than hiking because it tracks the same kinds of information I need for our river trips. But after I arrived I realized I wanted to be able to use it every day. It was a no brainer to order a pack of A6 refill paper to convert it to daily use as well. Now I just carry this around in my day bag for work notes, made a tab for travel itinerary, and keep a few hiking pages under another tab. All this, AND space for my ID, a little cash, and a pocket for incidentals. My pen stays securely in the holder.I was using leather conditioner on some other items so I rubbed some into this journal as well and it looks amazing.I’m pretty sure my passport will fit in the back sleeve too! There are very few times that products exceed my expectations and this is one. 5+ stars.

Well thought out pages - with space for pictures and notes (I have this nifty little bluetooth printer that prints on sticky receipt paper, so no ink required, and I print my pictures from that). Great prompts for recording details.Lots of pockets for other small items (trail passes, id, etc)The leather has a great feel to it, and the buckle closes it nicely.Makes me want to hike more so I can fill it up!

When I opened the box I was immediately impressed with the quality of this journal. It's made from real leather rather than some cheap leather substitute. The leather looks fantastic, is extremely durable, and will develop its own unique character as you use it.The binder clip and strap keeper are secured by rivets and screws to add extra strength. The stitching is perfectly executed with straight, even sewing and has ample backstitching to keep it all together. The pages are printed on heavy A6 paper that has a nice cream color. There are 2 pages dedicated for each trip. One page has dedicated fields to capture all of the relevant data about the trip. The other page is left blank to use for capturing notes and drawings relevant to the trip. I love the fact that this journal uses A6 sized paper. A6 refills are readily available online and Natmisz sells refill pages specifically for hiking. In addition to the journal pages there are several pockets that you can used for cards and cash. There is even a zippered pocket to secure smaller items that you don't want to lose. As with the exterior of the journal, all of the internal stitching is perfect.I like the quality of this journal so much that I am purchasing a second one to give to my hiking partner as a gift on his birthday.
