Probably the best cup n cone bottom bracket tool I own. It is expensive however it is great quality and has several advantages over other flat press wrenches. You won’t be disappointed if you buy one!

This tool is expensive but well made and in my view worth the cost. When dis-assembling my bottom bracket fitting, which is a knurled piece with 4 notches in it, no tool would work - I ended up using a screw driver and a hammer to knock the fitting until it unscrewed (there's also the problem that I wasn't sure what direction to move the fitting, so I ended up tightening it even more than it was, which was already considerably tight - turns out on the LEFT non-drive side of the bike left is loosen, right is tighten. The RIGHT drive side is the opposite - left to tighten, right to loosen). I was able to get the fitting loose but damaged the notch with the screwdriver/hammer. So I researched a better solution and found this tool. I can only say when it was time to re-assemble the lock fitting, this tool was wonderful and easy to use. From now on this is the bottom bracket tool for me. Fits my other bike too! (both my bikes are old and don't have bottom bracket tools that fit them).

Solid Hozan quality. Securely grips the opposite side notches in your lockring with a lower chance of stripping the notch than the usual one-notch arched tool. Grips are designed for maximum power.

This tool is a great example of Hozan tools' quality and practicality. It's well put-together and is useful not only for bottom bracket lockrings (better than most tools for the same job), but also for taking off the plastic caps on cheap, steel coil-sprung forks, which is absolutely necessary once those cheap forks start to squeak. If you plan on seriously taking on bicycle mechanic work, a pair of these are all but a necessity.

Forget park tool and pedro. Their lock-ring removal tools are total junk. I've been trying for over a year to get a stuck lock-ring off a fixed rear hub. I have both the park tool lock-ring tool and the pedros fixie tool. Neither were useful. Did a little research and came across this tool. After receiving via mail today, I had that stuck lock-ring off in under two minutes. Literally. If you need to work on fixed rear hubs this is the tool. To be clear, I own a lot of park tools. They make a lot of great tools. Pedros also makes a lot of decent tools. This isn't a knock on those companies. It's a knock on their design for lock-ring removal tools. These pliers are such an amazing improvement over every other design. If you are thinking the Park Tool HCW-17 is junk. You're correct. If you are looking for the right tool to remove a lock-ring on a rear hub, this is the tool you need.

The pliers I received did not align properly with the notches in the lock ring and tended to slide off and damage the lock ring. When this did not work well, I tried a Park HCW-5 wrench and it works very well.

After busting my knuckles for far too many years while rebuilding old ten and twelve speeds into fixed gear rides, I saw this at a LBS and went for it. It's surprisingly versatile and useful at the bottom bracket, headset, and with lockrings. This is truly a go-to-tool with Hozan quality.
