I work on a lot of bikes... at the time of this review, I have 12 bikes in my shop. While not everyone is concerned with how much their bike weighs, it is something that everyone should concider if you're planing on climbing. This scale is perfect. No, this is not a light bike at all. But it was the only picture I had of it.

The quality of Park tools speaks for itself, and I must say im very happy with this purchase. The scale has a well thought out design and is easy to read even in bright light. And best of all in multiple test it read the same weight over and over. Not like some that may fluctuate. I'm happy with this purchase... : )

First off, the scale doesn't allow weight to settle before locking in the weight. You hang something from the scale and it basically registers the weight in a couple of seconds regardless if the item has completely settled. For bikes that tend to swing it's terrible. The weights are not repeatable at all due to this issue. It registers my bike weight +- 2 lbs almost every time I weigh it. I've never gotten any weights remotely close to each other. I've had to resort to standing on a floor scale and subtracting my body weight to get a value.I would never purchase this scale again and frankly, I'm shocked that so many people give this thing such high praise.

Purchased this for weighing road and TT bikes at a race meeting, looks good and feels well made BUT you can weight the same bike and get 150 200 grams different readings.Completely unusable as an accurate way to weigh anything, we had to modify someone’s fishing scales to use. When someone can be disqualified for having a underweight bike the scales you are using need to be accurate and consistent, this Park Tool scale is neither.

Utilitarian. Functional. Fit for purpose. Worth the extra $20 for greater accuracy. Rugged.

Cyclists tend to be "weight weenies" once they get into riding a bit. Accordingly, I had to find out how much my bike weighed, plus how much of a difference changes in equipment made.It works well and does the job effectively. The faceted neck allows it to be clamped by a bike repair stand easily. Also doubles as a scale for weighing your luggage, but it's a bit hard to lift. (Maybe mount it on your bike stand!)Mostly an unnecessary tool, but it's really fun, so what the heck, right?!

Pluses:The scale works reasonably well. It is easy to install on my bike stand, which is not made by Park Tools.Drawbacks:1) If your bike had a sloping top tube, it is hard to hang it from the scale, using the hooks. The bike slides a bit, in spite of the "non-slip" sheathing on the hooks from which you hang the bike, when you weigh.2) I bought this item under the assumption that "Park Tools, USA" meant that the item would be made in the USA, like some of the other "Park Tool, USA" items that I own.Apparently, that is no longer the case! I believe this clearly reflected in the quality of the scale. I had to return the first one I got because the display was faulty -- would not display all digits. For instance, it would read " 7lb 05oz" instead of "37lb 05oz".3) For a $50+ scale, I would expect the manufacturer would include the necessary batteries. Apparently, that is too much to ask!

The scale was a bit pricey but Park puts out quality stuff so I know I will get my $$$$ out of it for many years. I needed a way to weigh a few bikes and parts and was going on a vacation with my wife where we planned on bringing back a lot of rum. I needed to weigh suitcases and that was enough of an excuse for me to justify the expense besides being a weight weenie. Weight is consistent over and over so far and I like that i can hang it from my rack to use it. I hang it off my jeep's hitch rack on rides to let people see that their $500 MTB bike doesn't weigh 21-lbs. That alone also made it worth the money. I would buy again, and have no problems with any of the Park products I own. I use it far more often than I thought I would. I weigh everything I can with it. Lets just say the cats went on a diet after getting this scale.
