The kick came without the directions we had to look on the internet to find the directions for the kit in order to be able to use it it would have been nice if it came with the directions telling you how many drops of each chemical to put in the the water

It turns out that I was shipped a test kit with an incorrect color chip card. The vendor sent me a replacement and the kit is now revealing good data.It still falls over too easily...=====Falls over too easily.PH scale is marked purple at top, yellow at bottom. In the middle, where it should be orange, it's clear...And it always says I need acid.., even when I don't.Don't buy. If you do, don't trust.

My wife and I are pretty new to pool maintenance, and we found this test kit to be very easy to use. Great for the price, it seems to come with enough test solution to last a long time.Edit: The first pool season is over, and we still have test solution left over. We have been using a bi weekly anti algae chemical, and shock n swim weekly, and the pool has stayed pretty balanced =D

This is an easy to use kit.A salesman at a hot tub store talked me into buying an expensive testing package when my original Jed Pool ran out of testing solution. It was so complicated I quit using it.Now I'm on my second of this kit and it does everything I need it to do.It's also fairly "color blind" friendly. I have a hard time with red-green and blues and that's not a problem.

The kit was inexpensive, and seems to do the basic job of measuring pH and free chlorine. However, there are several unnecessary shortcomings to the design. First, the caps for the sample tubes do not fit tightly, meaning you can't invert them to mix the contents without spilling. Second, the sample tubes are round, not square in cross section. While this seems a niggling detail, it does make comparing the color of the solution to the reference colors much more difficult than it would be otherwise. The HTH kit has square tubes so the color is uniform and easily compared to the references. That kit costs more but contains about 50% more of the test solutions and is much, much easier to read than the Jed Pool kit. I recently compared the two kits with water from my pool. The pH reference colors on the Jed Pool kit were clearly off. When the pH was 7.2 (in my pool), the color I obtained with the Jed Pool kit did not match any of the reference colors provided. The HTH kit gave the same color for pH, but this color nicely matched a reference color on the HTH kit.

The test kit works as designed, and shows PH and chlorine levels. This is a product that has pretty much remained the same since I was a kid, which is how I feel about many pool products. One thing that I wish would change is the use of yellow in test kits. Yellow is difficult to see, even at high levels, and nearly impossible to see at low levels. I normally wind up walking around my yard looking for a surface that will let me properly read the color. This kit is great for day to day maintenance, but I prefer test strips at least once a week, or daily when I am doing the initial setup for the season.

I bought this item for testing the water in a small easy-set pool. I set up and filled the pool and ran the pump overnight. I went to test for the first time and it showed the clorine level over 4.0. I proceeded to drain half the water and refill it, but the next test it still didn't seem to go down. On a hunch, I tested my tap water. According to the test, the chlorine level out of my sink is over 4.0. Yeah right. I wasted a TON of water, and hours of my kids crying to get in their new pool. NOT A HAPPY MOM.
