This is a very easy to use machine, sturdy construction and easy to remove the different parts for easy cleaning/coffee ground dusting. Very precise adjustments for coffee ground, from extra-coarse to ultra-fine. Every burr machine makes some noise because of the mechanism but this one makes significantly less noise than the previous one I had. Very reasonable for the strength and precision. Also pretty compact design, yet bean container can handle many cups. A great machine overall.

Love the controls and accuracy of the grinds in this product. Good capacity. Functions very well. I usually grind only on the espresso size grinds. Taste very good at that setting. Strong enough and accurate enough to be your own home barista. Very happy with this product.

This grinder seems pretty decent. Although, admittedly, it's probably overkill for my usual daily needs -- it's bigger than my usual chopper-style (non-burr) grinder, but that's typical for decent burr grinders, because the burr mechanism needs room to operate. Often I only use a French press to make coffee, so I only need roughly ground beans, which a burr grinder can accomplish, but, again, this is a pretty big and fancy grinder if all you need it for is a large-grain chop for something like a French press. It's a classy way to grind your beans, and certainly doesn't hurt -- some might say it does help to bring out more flavor even with a rough grind -- but I wouldn't say I notice a big difference with my French press coffee. However, where burr grinding really excels is when you need a fine grain, especially for espresso machines. And this grinder does indeed allow you to make fine, powdery, espresso-ready coffee grounds.I've had some luck with Kaffe-brand coffee grinders before, so I'm hoping this grinder holds up well too. It's not the most premium version of this type of grinder that you'd find -- it's mostly made of plastic, it doesn't have as much weight as some higher-end grinders I've used -- but it's a step-up from more generic options, and I'd say it offers good value for a good, better-than-basic burr grinder.

This burr grinder presents a blend of positives and negatives. While I have used a Baratza Encore as my daily grinder, it would be more appropriate to compare the Kaffe grinder directly to an older Mr. Coffee blade grinder that I have used for years.Pros:Good build qualityCompact designAuto stop feature functions wellSuitable volume for batch brewingGrind settings are adequate for pour over, AeroPress, and drip coffeeHopper can be removed without emptying itCons:It is very loud, comparable to an oscillating saw on the highest setting. Removing the hopper lid reduces noise somewhat, but it remains loud.Grinding beans takes a considerable amount of timeThe settings do not allow for enough adjustments for espressoThere are a lot of fines produced when grinding which makes the coffee bitter. The build quality and features are good, but the noise, slow grinding, and the presence of fines affect the overall experience and the coffee quality. In comparison, the Mr. Coffee blade grinder, although producing less even grounds, results in fewer fines and makes a better cup of coffee. It also grinds quickly, operates more quietly, and is easier to clean. While the Kaffe grinder appears to be an upgrade on paper, the actual results may not align with expectations. Notably, the Mr. Coffee grinder model is still available after over 10 years, though at twice the price originally paid.

This is really, actually, truly a flat burr grinder. You tend only to see that in really expensive grinders, so I was skeptical when I ordered this, but it really is.It grinds fine enough for espresso - actually can grind too fine for our machine on the lowest setting, and you’d get a really long pull.I know this isn’t advertised as a portafilter-compatible grinder, and I wasn’t really expecting it to be, but I’d entertained some fantasy about being able to use a giant dosing funnel and having this grinder grind directly into my portafilter. However, this is super not possible because the ground coffee comes out the front of the machine rather than falling straight down into the grounds container. Kind of obvious that it would have to be designed that way when you look at it, but I sure didn’t think it through that carefully. The grounds container is my least favorite part of this grinder. Espresso grind (the only one we use, we don’t own a drip coffee maker or anything else) is fine enough that the static inside the container is pretty formidable, and opening the container is always a mess. I don’t really think that’s anything the manufacturer could have avoided in this case other than possibly designing the container out of static resistant glass or something. I know those kinds of containers exist because I have one in a grinder that’s far inferior to this one in terms of grind quality and consistency. If you’re going to use this for drip or press coffee, I don’t think it would be nearly so much of an issue, so I’m not deducting a star because this isn’t a dedicated espresso grinder. The description currently says something to the effect of “Automatic on/off with timer.” There is no automatic on, but it will automatically stop grinding when it reaches its guestimate based on how many cups you’ve set it to grind for, so I guess that does qualify as a timer, so partial credit on the description. If you’re looking for a grinder that will automatically grind your first caffeine hit every morning, keep looking, and consider letting me know where you’ve found it.Other than those caveats, I’m really very pleased with this grinder for the price. Flat burr at this price point is just mind blowing, honestly.
