Cleaning this thing SUCKS. I have 6 chickens and 3 ducks and they free range, so I don't have to fill it everyday which is nice. The water temperature never got to frezzing and it stayed open all winter long here in North Dakota.

This waterer is working great for my half-grown duck and chick. I put it out for my 3 mature ducks and it was constant maintenance - too small for their constant water play. But for 2 animals in freezing weather it is perfect, and I am grateful to have it. As always with suction waterers, level ground is the challenge, if that is managed, this waterer will work great.

So glad we purchased this waterer! Works great, heats as should so the ducks can get their water during our cold winters in Wisconsin. Easy to clean.

I like that this is easy to clean and easy to refill as ducks are so messy. You just have to make sure that it is perfectly flat or the water will spill out.

Leaks EVERYWHERE if not sat totally flat. I mean everywhere. What a mess. Happened more than once, no matter what I did. Impossible to have it 100% sitting flat in a space with animals. Good intention, poorly executed. Stopped using it.

not worth the money. Ducks play in it until gone. Leaks if not dead level. Hard to clean. Cups are a hassle.

Stopped working after 2.5 months. Extremely messy: when flipping the tank down it spills water everywhere. The tank is of a very awkward shape, making it difficult to fill. The three drinking cups cannot be cleaned unless the whole thing gets unplugged and taken out to the house for washing. Huge splashing mess: in this Minnesota weather where we are well below freezing for several months, all the water spilled has caused by now a very large mass of frozen mess inside the coop. And, worst of all, after only a little over two months of usage the waterer stopped working: it is still plugged in and there is power BUT the water in the tank is all frozen. The whole thing is frozen solid to the coop floor. Now ducks have NO water source and I have to bring hot water to the coop several times a day. Unbelievable waste of money.

It does keep the water from freezing. It is a huge pain in the neck to clean, and to refill, especially in the cold weather when you need this. I have to unplug it, take off the water reservoir and carry both awkward peices to the hydrant to rinse our the base, then use a 3 gallon bucket to hold the reservoir and aim the water into the reservoir opening. That reservoir is so awkward, having to balance it on its tip to fill. I get wet every time cleaning and refilling this, and in the winter that's not a good thing.

This seems to do what it promises. However, as new duck owners, we’ve learned that ducks will make a huge mess no matter what and also that it is fine to keep the food and water outside the coop. They don’t need to have access to food and water all night. We’ve been doing this since they were four weeks old, and it’s worked fine. They will just splash water out of the whole thing very quickly. So we are also offering a big pan of water or swimming pool in the run. At least in the winter this will be a way to access water that is not frozen. If you can keep your birds with access to the outdoors during daylight hours, that is probably the best solution.

The waterer is well built, sturdy and it convenient to fill. As for the no mess, no mud claim, this is just false advertising. My ducks made a mess out of it in a day. Don't misunderstand, it DOES reduce the mess compared to standard waterers but still makes a mess which makes the price way too high for the reduced mess. All in all it is a pretty good waterer which will REDUCE the mess but you will still have a mess. Price is just too high to justify buying this unit in the future.
